bmaid dramaaaaaaaaaaaa (long)

Original post by JayBee216

so as some of you remember, a bunch of bmaids dropped out b/c of the 'snow' last sat meanwhile there was nary an inch on the ground.

we picked out a dress, with a quantity discount it was 15% off (so the dress would be $276), and if everyone ordered by Feb 25th we get a trunk show discount, so an extra 5% off (so the dress would be $260).

The six girls who didn't come have to fill out the order form w/ their measurements & credit card info and fax/email it back to the store by Feb 25th. I received this form on MONDAY and emailed it out to them.

Today, I get a frantic email from one of my bmaids (who came on Sat) asking me if everyone ordered their dress yet b/c money is SO tight and she can't really afford the extra $15, especially since she has to pay for alterations on top of the cost of the dress.

I felt like she was trying to make me feel guilty that it's kind of expensive, and in turn, pressure everyone to get their orders in ASAP so that SHE would feel better and I'm kind of like flabbergasted by this. They have 2 weeks from today to get it ordered AND I just received the stuff on Monday!

I w/b and offered to pay for her alterations b/c I felt bad but now I'm mad!!!

what do i do?

did you tell this girl not to tell the others that you offered to pay for her alterations?

because you did, you can't take it back now. you better pay for them lol. but what if she tells the other girls.... that's sort of not cool if you pay for one and not the rest. i'd tell her to put a lid on it if i were you.

ITA with this. $300 is a lot for a bridesmaid dress, but then again the girls did agree to it..

You are fine!!! When you are asked to become a bridesmaid you can expect to pay for a dress!!! If she is so tight for cash she should have mentioned it previously -- if $15 is going to break the bank then she definitely should have said something before. Don't stress -- its your day. I have had to pay $300 before for dresses...it comes with being a BM!

if she was so concerned about price she should have gone shopping with you!

well i dont think she is wrong for asking about the $15. i know its only 15 bucks but i think the point here is that she expects to pay one price and doesnt want to pay above it. and yes, at times, 15 dollars does make a difference espeically if i was already paying a good amount of money for the dress in the first place. with that said however, i think she shouldnt be pressuring you or any of the girls yet. if they have 2 weeks, then they have two weeks, i would understand if it was 2 or 3 days before the deadline but its not so needs to understand that.

also, side note, but i would ask her to keep it very quiet about you paying for the alterations because all will expect that if you are doing it for one.

although i think you might have jumped the gun a little bit in offering that and i understand you felt bad, you really cant go back now, imo.

i also think she might be acting this way because the price of the dress is a bit high but even so, if that was an issue, she is an adult and should have said something at first, not act this way after the fact.
