BM/MOH Dress issues.

BM/MOH Dress issues.

My MOH also acted as MOH for her sister's wedding last year. She still has her dress which is black satin floor length gown. It's gorgeous! I love it, but the rest of the BP will be wearing black tea length chiffon gowns in all different styles. I know my MOH wanted to stand out so she was going to be wearing a floor length black chiffon gown. Well, she just moved into a new place and is having some financial issues. She asked me if it would be okay if she wore the previous MOH dress which is black satin. Part of me doesn't care but the other part thinks it'll look stupid. I don't want to force her to spend the money and I can't by any means afford to pay for her dress. What do you ladies think I should do? We're planning on ordering all of the BM dresses this Saturday. I could put all of the girls in black satin but I really don't want to. I love the look of chiffon dresses and the fact that they'd be able to wear them again whereas the typical heavy, satin gown screams 'bridesmaid' to me. Any input would be greatly appreciated! TIA ladies!

ask her to bring the dress with you guys on saturday and see how it looks next to all the other ones. if it doesn't look good then what about finding one at a department store? i have seen a ton of long black chiffon gowns in many stores for like $100-$150

Is there anyway they could all try them on together at the store including MOH in her satin gown?

what if you offer to pay for half until she gets settled in her new place? i dont think the black satin dress would look bad necessarily with the chiffon one but himestly and JMO but i wouldnt want her to wear the same dress for your wedding also, i understand she has a lot of financial stuff right now but she also knew she was in your bp, i think there are pleny of chiffon dresses less than 150, you can even look in macys since her dress will be a little diff

Maybe she can add a brooch or a ribbon to the old dress to make it for your wedding.

Honestly, the chiffon BM dresses aren't THAT expesnive. They are $155 (Love you Alexandra Boutique!) marked down from $195 since we were ordering 5 altogether. I'm also concerned that the other girls will wind up having to pay more in the long run because she will not be ordering a dress. Also, she's lost a TON of weight (I mean 3 dress sizes) in the past year so she might need to get this dress drastically altered, especially because it's a trumpet kind of style so it needs to be a little fitted. I'm going to try to get her to pick up the dress so we can see them all together on Saturday. And if it doesn't look right, maybe we'll compromise and I'll pay for half of it. It's just hard, I'm already paying for my sister's dress. (She's a BM!)

It doesn't really bother me that she wore it for another wedding. The only people who were at that wedding and will be at mine are the bride and groom. LOL! But it's the fabric that's really bothering me. I'm going to look around online and see if I can find some black chiffon dresses for about $100. Maybe then we go can half and half on it.

I'm definitely a little pissed. I understand times are tough for everyone, but like you said, she's known for a YEAR that she was going to be my MOH and she couldn't save up even a measly $150? I'd like to blame it on the fact that we're going to Vegas for my bachelorette party but I know her parents are paying for her ticket and hotel stay and I'm paying for my own also. She's just really bad with money and whenever I try to talk to her about it, she just doesn't want to hear it.
