Did you girls get opinions and ideas from your MOH or BMs when picking out their dresses? I am only having a MOH (a friend since birth) and we are shopping for the dress together - I would like her input but I have a few definate styles that I don't want her to wear (no strapless, no spaghetti straps, and no heels over 1 inch) she seems to have a problem with these. I think she wants to wear strapless. Should i even bother going with her or should i just pick something myself and tell her where to pick it up?

i went with 2 of my BMs to pick out the dress. I figured since they were paying for it and they were wearing it, they should help pick it out so at least they like it and feel comfortable in it. Keep in mind that if she hates the dress....it will show in your pictures!!! A happy bridesmaid will look much better in a strapless dress than a miserable BM in a dress you pick out for her. JMO

I, too, only have my MOH and one junior bridesmaid. I actually had my MOH go by herself to a store by her house (since she lives pretty far from me). She picked out a few things that she liked and showed them to me via the internet. I wasn't crazy about one of them but when I saw it on her and the junior bridesmaid, I thought it was very flattering on them. I think you should definitely go with her and see what you both like and have her try on all possibilities.. since it's just the two of you, I'm sure you will be able to come to an agreement on something you both like. I think you should go together, you don't want her to back out and leave your MOH'less. I'd try to find a compromise, there are so many dresses I'm sure you'll find something. I'd be very insulted if you just told me to go pick up a dress.

I am the totale exception b/c my two MOH had FULL say in what they got. i just figured if they were wearing it they should pick it out and be comfortable. The color I even gave them a choice, black and white or wine and they chose wine.

I am letting my BM pick out their dresses, I just pick the colors and have veto power. I have heard too many horror stories of my friends being forced to pay so much money for dresses they hated. I have a beautiful dress in my closet that I wore for a friends wedding- but the color was all wrong for me and it is still in the plastic from the dry cleaner (the wedding was 3 years ago). I just think that since they are paying for the dresses, they should be able to buy something they will wear again.
