I read the article and in my opinion I think that the spouses needed to spend or do whatever they needed to help them get over this tradgedy but what disturbs me is that these husbands left there wives for new wealthy widows!! I want to throw up that is disgusting and I do feel what goes around comes around!

I know it's not surprising, they are a close knit bunch, but what gets me sick is that this firefighter left his family for another family, and is living off the donations of people who wanted to help this family.

The question is if this women gave the money to her deceased spouse's familyand kept nothing would the other firefighter have left his family??? I guess we will never know but it does make you wonder ..

I think that happens a lot. What do you expect? They send a fireman to each family to be a surrogate 'father' or whatever, and of course, something's going to happen. They should have had support groups for the wives, not send them each a married fireman who is similar to their husbands.

I think the firemen leaving their wives is so Fed up. Can you imagine being glad your husband survived the WTC attack, but then to have him leave you for another woman who did lose her husband? Ugh.

maybe not in this case but It is a little weird he wasn't single or unhappily married , but it could be possible that he fell in love. I just think that money makes people do very WEIRD things!

I don't think it was the money. I genuinely think they did fall in 'lust' or 'love' (maybe) with these women, only because they were with them so often, and Ciminok is right, it is a textbook case of playing the hero 24/7.

I highly doubt the money had anything to do with it...
When in that position, you'd trade your life to help this person---unfortunately many of them did.
Sad.
Nothing a little therapy couldn't have fixed up.

ETA: I think it's something based on need. Not even love or lust. Intense, heightened state of emotions can be very erotic and deceieving.
