So I went for a trial last night...and I didn't like how my make-up came out.
I really don't know where else to turn now and was thinking about going to the Bobbi brown or Mac make-up counters in Bloomies or Nordstroms to find someone.
Has anyone ever done this?
What do I say?
Do they typically come to me?
How much do they typically charge?

I'm using Clarin Cohen, who works at the Bobbi Brown in Bloomingdales @ Walt Whitman. She's also a vendor on liweddings. There was no charge for the trial. She did a great job - the other person I was considering hiring also works for Bobbi Brown (in Bergdorf's in NYC) - Debra Rubin-Roberts (www.BridalMakeupNY.com). Debra was terrific, but I didn't love how the blush came out and she needed to be able to do more people than I have in my party (I have a teeny tiny party) to make it worth her while to come out to LI. Debra did sort of charge for the makeup, requiring a purchase of $75 in products (but at least I got something from it!).

I had a few make-up trials that I was disappointed with too.
I used Clarin Cohen for my wedding. She works at the Bobbi Brown counter at Bloomingdales in the Walt Whitman Mall. If you get a trial at the counter it is free! She is really amazing!
Good luck!

I didnt personally have a trial with MAC, but my friend did and she said not only were they expensive, but the makeup was so heavy she felt and looked like a clown. I have heard from others that MAC is better if you buy the makeup and plan to do it yourself. Give it a try, maybe it was just the person who did it that my friend didnt like??

I used Ayana from MAC -- she works at Bloomingdales in the Roosevelt Field Mall. Here's her contact info: 631-645-7389
I would bring pictures from magazines of the look you want -- natural, whatever. I did try quite a few makeup artist until I found Ayana.
From my experience MAC artists cost b/t $125 - $175 and bridemaids are around $50 - $75. I also tried Bobbi Brown and the prices are basically the same.

Thanks girls for the info...I think I am going to call Clarin Cohen. Should I call her at Bloomindale's or the phone number she has on this site? I prefer to go the counter since its free.

I used caroline at stella cosmetics in bloomingdales at garden city. I loved her. she worked with the makeup artist herself for fashion shows. She is expensive(250) but I skimped on other items, but makeup I did not. Honestly the best! I tried out others at bobbi brown, but you'll see. just go and stop by and ask for caroline. she will do it for free if you did not make an appt.

You can email Clarin from liweddings and she will email you back (but she doesn't check regularly, so there might be a lag).

I would definitely use Bobbi Brown. I use her makeup and it is very light and natural. The make up artists are also great.
