Re: BOK TOSS /GARTAR
I didnt do a Bo-k or garter throw NOT because I thought it was lame or whatever, I just omitted it from my wedding so we could have more time to dance.

Plus I never bought a garter. Completely slipped my mind.

I read an article about this in a bridal magazine that really gave a lot of insight into this.
Here's what you need to consider:
If the bulk of your friends are either a) in their early-mid 20's and/or b )you can count your single girls and guys each on more than 2 hands, then do it.
If you're friends are in their late 20's or up, don't do it. Most 'singles' don't want to be 'singled out' past a certain age.
Trust me, I met DH when I was 28, and we went to a wedding together and you couldn't have paid me to go up to catch the bouquet.
There is a major stigma that comes along with being single and not married past a certain age. I lived it.
HTH!
ETA: We obviously didn't do this at our wedding, and we were glad we didn't miss out on any valuable dance floor time. And nobody missed it at all.
I would have to disagree with the late 20s thing completely. Single girls at my wedding ranged from 22 through 35 and were fighting over the bouquet. From the pictures I could see that the girls from 28-35 were front and center fighting over it. The younger girls were hiding in the back. The girl who caught it was the oldest 35. I think it depends on the situation. But I actually found when i went to weddings in my early 20s the bouquets usually hit the floor and girls had to be dragged out on the floor to participate. I remember hiding from bouquet tosses at 22, 23, 25... we didn't want to get married then. In your late 20s/ early 30s you do, so you want to catch it.
I think it really depends on the crowd. My girlfriends are all between 28-35 and the entire time leading into the wedding they were like 'You're not gonna make us get up for the dang bouquet throw right' They totally would have been that episode from Sex and The City in season 1 when the bouquet comes flying at the 4 girls, and they just stared at it as it fell onto the floor
Personally, I was always the 1st one to go up for the BO-K toss when I was 24,25,26,27...and then all of a sudden I thought it was annoying and dreaded people making me get up to do it.
My advice to the bride to be is to get a temperature check from your friends and then make your decision.

Couldn't agree more, Jen. When FH and I got engaged my absolutely wonderful, super-supportive, some of the most amazing women you'll ever meet in your life, 3 best friends were over the moon excited for me. But all 3 of them said at the same time 'YOU'RE NOT GOING TO MAKE US BMs RIGHT???' Something just happens when you get a little bit older. See what your crowd leans to and then make the best decision for YOU!
