Booked our honeymoon cruise!
We booked our honeymoon over the weekend. We are taking a Western Caribbean cruise on the Royal Caribbean cruise line (Voyager of the Seas) April 27th, leaving from Miami.I had done alot of research looking for a good price and was very happy with the Travel Agent I wound up going with. He beat everyone's prices... he even beat a family friends price by $300. If anyone is thinking of booking a cruise and would like his number to get a quote, just let me know!
For those of you who have cruised before, I have a question. We picked the late seating for dinner so that we wouldn't have to rush after any excursions we are involved in.... but will we be missing any late night entertainment because of our late dinner? Did we make a mistake by taking the late seating?
Thanks!

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
Mishy,The night shows run 2 times a night. One for those who choose the earlier seating and the 2nd for those who choose the later seating. So, you won't have a problem.
We booked our honeymoon cruise last week! We're taking the Carnival Destiny July 6, 2003 to the Southern Caribbean!
Happy Sailing!

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
I am so glad to see that you ladies are going on a cruise for your HM! FH and I are looking into a Mediterranean cruise to Eurpoe for our HM. We have had a slight problem getting the timing right- our wedding is 8/30/03, and a lot of cruises leave on 9/4/03 or later in the month. I assume that this is something a travel agent can help with though. Mishy, I am looking for a good one, so any recommendations would be great.I wanted to do a Carribean cruise, but our HM is right in hurricane season (boo!) so we cannot. But if we get the Europe thing to work out I think it will be great...

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
Great news!I have only been on one cruise before and we picked the late night seating. I was so great not to rush back just to make dinner. Plus FI and I normally do not eat dinner to 8:30-9:00 on a normal night! We did not feel we missed out on anything!

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
Oh, Mishy, I was getting excited as I was reading your post. We are leaving 4/27 also on Royal Carribean, but for the Southern Carribean on Adventurers of the Seas.
Is Voyager the same kind of ship with all the sporting stuff? (Rock climbing, etc.)In any case, we took the late dinner also, a big recommendation from our travel agent. I don't think you'll miss a thing!
Happy HMing! I hear nothing but great things about RC!

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
Thanks to everyone who got back to me. I feel much better now about our late seating for dinner.Hmichick: The travel agents website is www.lastcallcruises.com. His name is Don and he can be reached at 516-933-4132. Several people recommended him to me, and he was also on Royal Caribbean's website as a recommended TA so I felt good using him.
Paiz, yes, the Voyager also has rock wall climbing, mini-golf, etc. Is your cruise the one that leaves from San Juan? We were considering 3 ships from Royal Caribbean... they've all gotten great reviews.
Happy Cruising to all!

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
i would definitely go w/the late dinner--we originally had the early dinner on a cruise i went on and the first day--by the time we got on the ship after traveling/etc. we took a nap and missed the first sitting-so after that we decided to change to the later one and it worked out great--you won't miss a thing and it will give you some time to recover after a day of touring or whatever you decide to do!...if you are unhappy w/the later one you could always change it when you are on the ship

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
I agree. The first cruise we did, we took an early dinner, what a mistake it was for us !!! After touring the island, we rushed to our room, had to take a 10 minute nap, then hurry to all get dressed !!!! WE made it to dinner like zombies. LOL
The 2nd cruise, we smartened up, and took the late dinner, and we very happy !!!
BTW, I think you made an excellent choice w/Royal Carribean. !!!!! CONGRATS !!!!

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
Mishy:Yes, it is the one that leaves from San Juan. I can't wait!!! Every one of those ships look awesome. Neither FH or I have ever been on a cruise so we're both really excited...Maybe I'll see you on one of the Islands, or we can wave at each other from the decks of our perspective ships - LOL!
Hope you have a GREAT time!

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
Paiz: Yeah, I have heard great things about the ships... have you looked at any of teh 360 views on any of the websites? What type of cabin do you have... I really wanted one with a balcony so we booked that type of cabin. I'll be looking for you on the islands to say hi. lolButtafli: I think the prices all depend on what type of cruise you are taking... we are taking the western caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean and the price I booked at was 1139 per person, that was with tax and port charges (room with balcony). My TA also looks each week to see if the prices go down (then we get the discounted price). Have you narrowed down which cruise you would like to take? Which cruise line?
Happy cruising everyone!

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
Mishy626-I am also going on the Voyager of the Seas for my honeymoon. We are leaving March 30th from Miami to the Western caribbean. I can't wait.
Do you know if the Voyager has a seating for two? I know our travel agent has told royal caribbean that we are on our honeymoon but i can't remeber if she requested a table for two or a table with other honeymooners.

Re: Booked our honeymoon cruise!
Mishy: We have a balcony room as well, on deck 6. Originally we were going to get the penthouse suite with the jacuzzi on the deck, but in reality we realized we would hardly be in the room, and for $3k a person it was wasted $$. I knew all I really wanted was a balcony so we got a deluxe balcony room.Buttafli: I agree with Mishy - it depends on the type of cruise you want, the type of stateroom, and the time of year. Ours is $1075 pp departing the last week of April 2003. I can get you our travel agent's name and number if you are interested. He was fantastic to work with, and recommended by a fellow bride from this board who has used him for years.
Here's to smooth sailing!
