Booked the honeymoon!!

I posted yesterday, all frustrated with FH and his desire to return to Cancun, as we already were there earlier this year. Well, he got his wish and we are returning. We simply couldn't afford the Bahamas or Jamaica. But we found an awesome resort for an awesome price, right within our budget- room with ocean view and a jacuzzi on the balcony! Woohoo!! I can't complain now! It's the Exellence Rivieria in Cancun. The place comes with great reviews on tripadvisor. Much much swankier than the place we went to during Spring Break, so I'm excited!! I don't care where we go in the grand scheme of things- as long as we get to relax and enjoy ourselves together!!!

ETA- whoops, we don't have the room with the jacuzzi on the balcony- duh!! That woulda been like $600 more! But we still get an ocean view.

Definately a beautiful place. My fiance and i were there this August. Alot of relaxing no kids running around. Only thing is if you like to gamble no gambling in Mexico!!!!!

Awesome! How was the food there? Any recommendations on what to do and all that good stuff? Thanks!!!

The food was awesome. You have to be dressed nice to go for dinner but you dont need reservations. I recommend you get there right when they let you unless you dont mine waiting 45min till an 1hr to be seated. Our favorite restaurants were the French place and the hibach. I dont remember the names but they were across from eachother. There isnt really much to do there. There is a bar/lounge it gets crowded after 11 and the bartenders name is Armando. He is sooo awesome!!!!!!

The beach there stinks but the beaches in cancun are beatuiful.

Uh oh the beach really stinks? Oh man...FH will NOT be happy. What is wrong with the beach? I don't remember anyone complaining on tripadvisor. Is it tough to get to the Cancun beaches then?

And yes, it's the Excellence Riviera, not Capri.

Did you do any of the water sports? Snorkeling or anything?

It was kinda like dark looking not like cancun thay is crystal blue. We didnt go to he beach in cancun we just stayed at the pool. We didnt do any water sports just relaxed lol.

Now i'm kicking myself for not calling the resort directly- I wonder if I woulda got a better deal. We went with travelocity - still a great deal, but I wonder if I coulda worked an upgrade directly through the resort. Oh well! Live and learn I guess!

fh and went to aventura spa palace on vaca and we loved it!! we drove past ur resort and looked gorgeous!! make sure u and fj take a trip to playa del carmen, and check out the down town shopping area. they have a lot of cute shops.

ETA: the beach at playa del carmen is beautiful. FH and i had a 'lagoon' at our resort and was nasty. no real beach at aventura spa palace either. but we were very happy just lounging by the pool.

i think u did a good thing by not calling directly, yes u may have gotten a better deal, but i feel more secure dealing with an american based TA.

congrats one more thing crossed off ur list! im sure u will have a great time wherever u are especially if DH is with u! its ur honeyyyymoon make the best of it!
