Hello everyone, my name is Jessica and i just recently got engaged on May 6, 2006. I was wondering if you could all help me out with a question if you know the answer......I am Catholic and would like to get married in a Catholic church, my fiance is Lutheren and he didnt do his confirmation.....do that mean that we are not going to be able to get married in a catholic church? Does it matter if both of us has done our communion, and confirmation or its fine that just one of us has done it to get married there???? Do they even ask for proof?

I think he may have to make his confirmation. Not 100% sure though.

Re: Booking a church question
I'm not sure exactly how it works but both FH and I are catholic. They DO ask for proof. I have to drop my baptismal certificate off at the church since we are using his. I do not know what happens when one is not catholic.

If you know what church you were baptised in and made communion and confirmation, your church has it on file. Atleast mine does. Good Luck!

Re: Booking a church question
They will perfrom a wedding at a church to a non-catholic. They may or may not be willing to do a full mass depending on you parish, but they will defenitly do a ceremony. Luthern is still a Christian religion. My friend got married to a lutheran and they had a mass, he just couldn't recieve communion.

Re: Booking a church question
You can definitely get married at a Catholic church. Make an appointment with your church to sit down and discuss the formalities with a priest. Since you made your sacraments, it's fine... the church (or churches) were you received them has it all on file... even if not's the parish you want to get married in. you do need to get a dispensation for your husband in order to get married in the church....your priest can help you out with that... it is just paperwork... you'll be fine... particularly since he is a Christian... the formalities are a little more indepth when a Catholic marrys a non-Christian.
GOOD LUCK! and really you don't have to get married at the reception hall... just meet with the priest and you will get it all sorted out!

I think all you have to be is baptized -
FM Soontobemrsr72806 tell her I sent you! Her FH is lutheran and they are getting married in a catholic church.
Some church's are more lax than others - but all we had to show is our baptismal certificates
