does anyone have any tips for booking a honeymoon? i'd rather not go through a travel agent because we're not into the touristy stuff, but i'm completely lost. i'm debating going to one just to get ideas since i don't even know where to begin, but i figured i'd check here first. can you guys point me in the right direction?
we're considering italy, hawaii, japan, and for a while thailand (but when we checked into it the tickets were REALLY expensive). if anyone has any suggestions for this, i'd appreciate them soon. my problem is i have too many places i want to go. i'm leaning towards italy because i'm in love with art (my major in college) and art history (my minor) but would love to go anywhere that i could really experience a unique culture.

Re: booking a honeymoon?
you could do alot of research on the places you want to go. For our HM i know where we want to stay and everything but we called our TA gave him the hotels and asked him to give us a quote so were still waiting on that and we're going to see what rate he gives us.
But go to frommers.com and put in the city you like and it gives you info about any location and everything you need to know about it. When you put the location in the search engine you will get a list of contents with so many sections, and they have a Message board which is great bc people ask about which hotels to stay at and many info like this and ppl who already visited the place answer these questions
also check trip advisor, people write reviews about each hotel.
And yes for most of the places you mentioned plane tickets are expensive
