Booking a honeymoon

Booking a honeymoon

So me and FH are now just entertaining the idea of a late honeymoon around christmas time. (I am a teacher, so can only travel on breaks)

So for those of you that already booked...where did you book through?

Did you book online, or a travel agent? We are thinking Puerto Rico...but I know that it is more expensive that many places. He really wants to go there, and I do too, but I want a nice relaxing beach to see things, and the best bang for our buck.

FYI. Don't want to do DR (went there last year) so somewhere new. And I have been to Cancun, don't want to honeymoon there. Maybe somewhere in the caribbean?

We went to Liberty Travel and got all the info on where to go and stay and are gonna go to AAA to see if there is any difference in prices since FH is a memeber

We are members of AAA as well....didn't even think to go there. Is there an actual office to go to? Or do you look online through their website?

Yep! Its in garden city! I think its franklin but double check. My FH has gone there before to get the books when we've gone other places, we never actually sat down with an agent but they are there. I know they are open on Saturdays from 10-2. Closed on Sundays.

A good bang for your buck-

PLAYA DEL CARMEN- in Mexico. its about 45 min from Cancun.

and ofcourse- Bahamas/jamaica- with the all inclusive you can get an awesome deal there.

Re: Booking a honeymoon

if you are just looking for a beach/relaxing honeymoon, you can try mexico or aruba
Personally, if you plan to just go to one hotel and stay there for the week I would book it yourself and not deal with a TA

Turks and Caicos?

It's very secluded and great for honeymooners! And it's a short flight!

how about Sandals St. Lucia!!!!

Re: Booking a honeymoon

Just went to liberty travel....and left feeling overwhelmed and with like 50 books.

Since I have to travel during peak season airfare I'm going to get screwed on. She then suggests sandals resorts and tell me they runn $400 a night. Noooooo way!!!!!

Then I tell her ideally keep it under $3000 MAX..and she was giving me $4,000 and $5,000 prices. I will now look online myself.

So I think I will now look more into the maya riviera, jamaica, bahamas

Re: Booking a honeymoon

I had a budget of 3gs as well and wanted the most for my money. I wanted something beachy and relaxing but with fun things to do at night. I used Dawns Honeymoon Specialist, she is a vendor on here. She was GREAT. She finds what you need and within your budget. She answered all my questions and was a complete sweetheart. You should give her a call, it wouldnt hurt to see what she has to offer.

BTW- I tried using Liberty Travel first and didnt like it at all.

Do you have Dawns contact info?

What location did you end up booking through her?

The airfare is out of control. It would be like 4000-5000 for a week for a regular resort which is insane airfare to Caribbean was like $1000 per person. So if you find any deals let me know for sure!

And I was just looking at cruises. It's not so bad flying to Miami. Like $500 round trip per person. So looking at caribbean cruises now. You can hit alot more islands leaving from there. I looke at NY and not so many places cuz so much time spent at sea.

Any cruise recommendations?
