Booking Church

For those of you getting married in a church, when do you plan on booking? I have been so nervous about calling and finally worked up the courage to call today...and they said they aren't booking 2015 yet, and to call back in JUNE. So much for trying to get things done early!!! Has anyone else had this issue or is it just my church?

that's weird...We got engaged in June 2013 and booked the church in July 2013 for our November 2015 wedding...they already signed us up for pre-cana and our rehersal

That's odd, my church was booked in May 2013 and we aren't getting married till January 2015. They said it was good we came early.

We booked in June 2013 for May 2015... That is weird. I am glad we booked early because the weekend after our wedding our church starts having holy communions on Saturday mornings so it would have had to be an afternoon ceremony at our church and a night reception which we really didn't want. This reminds me I have to find out when we have to sign up for Pre-cana... I am actually nervous about it!

Wow, I can't believe I'm the only one! I wonder why the church isn't booking earlier. I was worried about them letting me get married there- my family belongs to a different parish (attended weekly mass, first communion, confirmation), but I was baptized and parents were married at this church. Hopefully my date is available when I call back, now I'm scared that I will get shut out of this church and my regular church will be booked already. Luckily my wedding is on a Friday so it shouldn't be too popular of a date.

I am also super scared about Pre-cana! I've read about it, but still don't know what to expect!

I would call this church back and just make sure (try to speak with a different person). And if they really aren't booking now, I'd find out the first date they are booking and be sure to call first thing that morning! It's very unusual that they would have told you that.

Pre-Cana's not bad at all. A lot of people on here ended up really enjoying it. FH and I didn't mind it that much. Don't worry about it!

Good luck! I am sure it won't be bad I just don't know what to expect and that is what makes me nervous lol We are going to go in May.

know what I just thought of..... when we went to meet with deacon there was a little girl at the desk answering phones and helped us. okshe wawasn't little but she was clearly doing her community service to make her confirmation. if u didn't speak to a priest or deacon I'd say call back! maybe u got a kid who have u wrong info.....

also idk if anyone said this but u might have to get a letter from your church so u can go to your parents wedding church. idk if they still make u do that but I remember like it was yesterday my aunt had such a hard time she had to get that letter. but that was a very long time ago...... talking 20 yrs so things might be different now!

have fun! to bad we aren't doing it now we could have gone together! - hey let me ask you..... the deacon frank told us to go home and go online and do some question thing....... yea we def forgot!! We set our date in November.... think we will get in trouble for doing it this weekend?
