I don't think that's too long to wait. You'll still be more than a year away and a lot of people plan their weddings in a year's time. I'm sure you'll find some vendors that are already booked, so unless you're dead set on using someone in particular, I think its fine.
That's plenty of time! I only have my RH booed because we knew that's where we wanted to have the reception. The only other vendor that I am considering booking more than a year in advance is the photographer (I am just waiting for this one photographer to get back to me in December about her 2011 pricing and then we will make our decision). Everything else (florist, DJ, limo, etc) I am going to be booking once I am under the year mark.
i booked RH and church right away.... photo/video i just happened to meet at the food tasting and booked him on the spot but we werent looking... waiting for the rest..
I'm getting married 4/15/11 and I booked everything just so I could lock in the 2009 prices. I also wanted to take my time paying for it, but it is definitely okay to book later in my opinion. You have more than enought time.
I think you're definitely giving yourself enough time in terms of getting the vendors that you want. Do you have your RH booked yet? That I would do ASAP! With everything else, the two big pluses of booking early are locking in the current years prices, and giving yourself more time to save. If you know how much each vendor costs, you'll be able to put yourself on a payment plan and know how much you need to save weekly or monthly or whatever so that you can comfortably have the money to pay for it before the wedding.
i booked the church and reception hall 3 weeks after we got engaged in may, now im holding off on everything else cuz i have a year and 9 months.. im just enjoying this time right now.. no need to rush =)
