Did anyone's baby seem to get bored of their bouncy seat and go from loving it all the time to just hating being in it? Jack will be 8 weeks on Tuesday and in the past week he is so anti-the Aquarium bouncer. He will not settle down in it like he used to and is at a stage where he has to be with me all the time...and it is getting to be a little much. I carry him in the Baby Bjorn alot but that is starting to take a toll on my back.
Should we invest in a swing? I just would hate to spend money on it to find out he hates that too.
Any insight? I suppose 2 months of staring at the same two kissing fish could get boring!

Becky is 11 weeks and still loves ther aquarium bouncy. But we alternate with her swing. She loves that too. As the music plays she squeals in delight.

Placing your baby in different positioning devices are good but professionally, I am a pediatric Occupational Therapist, I do not recommend that jumper that hangs from the doorway for safety reasons and because it gives the child a lot of compressions on their knees. Does your baby like just plan being on a floor mat or playpen? This is great for upperbody strengthening and milestone development

oh boy, how Id hate for this to happen! We have a graco swing which he loves and always tends to fall asleep in it. Do you have any activity mats or a mobile? We bought a symphony mobile for him thinking it would make him drousy in the bassinett and he would go to sleep. Nope he LOVES it and just stares and coo's at it.

I also have that mobile - Nick will stare it for about 30 minutes and smile and laugh - no way will it make him go to sleep! I would recommend the Aquarium Swing - although it is quite expensive ($100). I actually got a Graco swing, but regret it now. That Aquarium swing looks great - all babies I know who have it LIVE in it! Also, the Baby Einstein playmat is really great - Nick started really liking it at about 8 weeks, so maybe your son needs a little more activity than the bouncy seat - the playmat has a mirror, hanging toys, music, and a pillow thing you can use to prop him up if you want. Also, those Lamaze toys are great - Nick loves Buzz - you can hand them from the playmat.

We actually have both of these things that he loves but I think my problem is that he hates to be left alone during any playtime. He loves the mobile and I can leave him for a little while, but then he realizes that I have left the room and starts crying. I've got me a momma's boy!

I don't leave Nick alone for playtime....I think he is too little. I think it is normal that he wants you to be near - perhaps when he is old enough to sit up and play with toys in a playpen you can leave him alone?

Aidan has this mobile too, he loves it! It would eventually put him to sleep if it was naptime (it runs so long too, big plus!) so I could take a shower.
He never liked the seat, we have a Baby Papa San.. hated it. And I can count on one hand how many times he sat in the swing... hated that too. But it wasn't an aquarium swing which I hear it great.
Basically he spent alot of time in his infant seat in the snap and go around the house. He liked to be watching me and everything else. I don't know how this was different than the Papa san seat but it was.
He also started spending alot of time with this
He is actually sleeping in it right now.... I know when he wakes up cause I start to hear clink, click of the toys
If he was younger I would have definitely invested in a Gym Mat
Oh yeah and try a sling, I think it might be a little easier on your back, I got one here..
she is a SAHM who makes them, I really liked mine.

I meant leave him alone in his crib for enough time to take a shower. I wouldn't leave him otherwise. I dont want you all to think his chilling out byhimself for hours.

Re: Bored of the bouncy seat?
My daughter has loved the aquarium bouncy seat since she has been about two weeks old. She has recently started getting bored of the aquarium scene. She is now four months old and she'll watch Baby Einstein tapes and Sesame Street in it. She still naps in it. I have the aquarium swing too. She'll go in that and nap, but she lasts longer in the bouncy. Try not using the aquarium scene and possibly putting the seat in a different place. Good luck.

Re: Bored of the bouncy seat?
My son LOVED his aquarium bouncy seat... he used it up until he was so heavy the seat was practically touching the ground BUT I also had the fishy swing and alternated so he wouldnt get sick of either. He also loved his swing until he was so heavy it couldnt swing him anymore. I got the swing for my baby shower but if I hadnt I would have bought it anyway. It is definitly a good investment and he was able to use it for a good while.
I think too much of one thing will bore a baby so just try to rotate different things!
Good luck

I realized that he also just is over the aquarium scene. SInce I removed it, he is much more content in his seat. He loves to look around at everything now and I guess the aquarium was getting in the way from him taking it all in.

I love that seat so much for Emily. I am glad he is still getting use from it. Emily sits in that when I take my shower, cook and clean. I love taking her to different rooms to see her expression. I even take that seat when we go visiting. Does anyone know what the weight limit is on them? I heard twenty pounds?
