I wish I could but living in LI makes it almost impossible to be a stay at home mom. Maybe if I move out of NY.

I agree too.

I might work part time, or take a year off, but once they're old enough for preschool, definitley not. I like what I do. Also, my mother has willngly volunteered to be granny daycare.

I have no desire to stay at home. I'm too happy with my career that I can't imagine not working. Of course, that could all change once I have kids.

I second that
Once I have kids, I might change my mind

me 3. Also the amount of time, money and effort I spent getting a law degree would sort of be wasted unless I could telecommute or something.

Re: Bored topic #2, Are you going to be a stay at home mom?

W/ my daughter my first born I stayed home until she was almost 2. By the time she turned one AI only worked w/e's and FH stayed home w/ her while I worked. W/ my son I stayed home until her was a 1yrs. and I went back to work P/t. At that time I was in the medical field so my schedule was much more flexible.

All in all I think its a good idea to stay at home w/ your children. The feeling is unbelieveable, b/c you see so much as they grow. But in this day and age some of us have to do what we have to do. and one of those things is putting our kids in daycare so we can work. and sometimes putting them in daycare to pay daycare

Re: Bored topic #2, Are you going to be a stay at home mom?

I already have a 3 1/2 year old now. I work full time and my Dad watches my Son. I am very lucky.....FH and I want a baby right away since I'm getting old.....I would have to stay home, my Dad could not handle a baby and I would not expect him too. I was a single Mom and my Dad helped me out so much but now I would have to stay home. I just started doing Partylite candles, so maybe I can do that part-time.

Re: Bored topic #2, Are you going to be a stay at home mom?

Not me. I want to be a career mom. I worked so hard to get my Master's and want to be a guidance counselor sooooo bad. And with this career, I will have plenty of times to spend with kids and still do what I am dying to do with my life. My FI, well he's another story, I think he would love to stay home and raise the kids!

Re: Bored topic #2, Are you going to be a stay at home mom?

I would absolutely love to be a stay at home mom. However, living on LI makes it extremely difficult as others have said. I would definitely consider going part time if my job would allow it.

Re: Bored topic #2, Are you going to be a stay at home mom?

I'd like to find a way to work from home, or do the part time thing. I like the idea of being home for the kids, but I know I'd go crazy. Plus I've worked so hard to get where I am, I don't know if I could give it all up.

Re: Bored topic #2, Are you going to be a stay at home mom?

FH and me are hoping to have about 3 kids. I might be able to work a lil bit in the beginning I doubt I'll be able to maintain a full-time job in investment banking for long with 3 kids at home, so most likely I'll either be a stay at home mom or find something part-time in my field or that allows me to work from home.
