the strangest thing that was said to you when you got engaged?

when FH & I got engaged, his Grandfather said to him, 'Don't make a mistake. But if you do, name it after me.'

That's awesome!

When I called my great uncle and told him he said, 'Oh really... that's nice. Why are you telling me?! Ok.. g'bye!!!' (not in a mean way... he's 95 100% all there and just silly like that.)

Most of my guy friends asked me if I was sure lol.

Last night no less.

A relative: 'Just make sure you don't follow in your mothers footsteps' (My mother decided to end her marriage of 23 years after my dad had been cheating on her for about 15 of them and fathered a child during the marriage. She waited until my brother graduated from college.)

I replied: I hope I do follow in her footsteps, and have the courage to end it, when I and my marriage becomes a joke.

Told my grandma I was engaged, she asked 'to who?'

When I told her FH, who I had been with for a year and a half, her response 'oooohh, I was afraid of that'

his coworkers said 'congrats- are you sure??'
and his grandmother says to me all the time 'you know honey, its still not too late to change your mind from being part of this crazy family...'
