My sweetie is a firefighter in Lower Manhattan.. Ladder 15 South Street Seaport... Nice area... He put in his papers a while back to transfer though. Well see. Hes looking for more fires :( He is now cheuffer also and drives the tower ladder... I always said I would NEVER date a fireman but after I met him I couldnt resist LOL I am very happy... but have too many nightmares :( Does it ever get easier???

I don't see how it can ever get easier. The person we love the most is going out every day and risking his life for others. I think we're going to be gray before our 5th anniversaries!! We just have to stay strong as supportive for them so they're not worried about us when they're out there.

My FH is a volunteer Firefighter-he was offered a job in the FDNY when we first met but luckily he had just gotten a great job offer on the island and decided to take that instead since he wouldn't have to commute. I'm so glad he did!!! Its hard enough dealing with the volunteer stuff I can't imagine him doing both.

One of his friends (who is volunteer and FDNY) was hurt in the Bronx fire-he is currently in stable condition. It's definately scary-and I dont think it ever gets any easier.

I don't think it gets easier.

My dad, brother and uncle are all in the FD. Everytime there is an alarm I get worried, especially when I am there. I always think I hope I do not have to give medical attention to my family members.

My prayers are with the NYFD and those hurt in the bronx fires.
