Re: borrowed from NWR: what about an '05 secret santa? HOW IS FRI 12/3??

if i'm home, and my parents are moved into their new house it will be big enough... but East Setauket is not very central unfortunatly...

Unfortuantly, no one wants to buy our house!

I offered them $500, but they wouldn't take it! I don't get it!

I mean, the house down the street sold for $125 less... but was half the size and in a lot worse condition (almost the entire main floor has been redone in our house in the past 3 - 4 years).

Heck, I don't even wanna move - I love the house. But mom needs room for her 'grandchildren' Which mind you, do not exist, unless you count my step-brothers new girlsfriends baby

ETA - that would be $125K less, not $125. but $500 still means $500 (they want $500K though )

Hey! I have an idea, though this might not work...

Depending on how many of us we end up with, instead of a restaurant, what if we did a 'pot-luck' dinner? Just apps and desserts! If you are getting married between January and June, bring an appetizer. If you are getting married between July and December, bring a dessert.

I don't know where we could have this, but it might be a fun thing to try. This way, we aren't sitting around a table in a restaurant. We could get up mingle, exchange gifts, etc...

Comments? Complaints? Compliments? Feel free to tell me if I'm out of my crazed-bridal-mind!

I really like this idea.

Now we have to figure out where.

Is Friday 12/3 evening the set date? Works for me!

I am more than happy to offer my humble apartment. For an apartment, it is very spacious. Lots of room for socializing but I may need someone to bring a few folding chairs. Dec 3rd works for me. I think it may work better to get a total and then find who wants to bring what. I will keep a running list if no one minds coming to Franklin Square. I live a block away from the Sand Castle if that helps any of you!
FM me if you'd like!

And neenie, don't bring the fruitcake!

12/3 should work for me....I'm starting a new job in a couple of weeks, but as long as it's in the evening, I should be able to make it.

So many great ideas...wondering what you think of this...

I did this last year on another site where people live all across the country so we just mailed the gift - everyone agreed to mail it via priority with tracking and there was a deadline date so everyone would have their gift on time. I was wondering if we applied this idea (which someone here already mentioned) and then further it by adding that we can arrange a GTG that works best for everyone and bring our presents (that we received in the mail) with us. Now right off the bat is seems silly to mail it and then bring it but it would be helpful for those people who cannot make it or who have last minute plans. The holidays are so hard to predict that even if we do our best to plan now - something will inevitably come up. This way...those who can make it can bring it and we open them together but those who cannot make it will have their gift to open - maybe on the actual holiday.

Just an idea.

I like that idea. I would love to attend but I don't know how the train schedule is late at night.
