So a new trick Sassy Sophia has..wont' take any supplement bottles from Mommy. I have tried a few times after feedings when she's still groping around for more, and she won't take it! She just gropes for my chest! I give her to my husband and leave the room ,and of course - she glugs it down. She used to take the bottle from me just fine. Any ideas on this?
(sidenote - we only supplement maybe once or twice a day now...)

Re: bottle/feeding question for BTDT breastfeeders
Many babies will only take bottles from others. They associate you (the mom) with the breast. Daddy or grandma can give a bottle with no problem but not mamma. This is a pretty common problem from what I have read on the bfing boards.

I second what michele wrote...but if you need to give her the bottle..try this trick. FAce her away from you...(her back on your chest) and walk around giving her the bottle. This worked with Julianne the week that I had to introduce her to bottles. (this way I could pump while at work and give her breast milk during the day when I was not home)
see if it works.

Jenny, my only advice to you is keep trying, and make sure your husband or other caretakers do not give up trying to get her to take the bottle. Be persistent. Lyla had bottles from day 1, but as bfding got easier, I supplemented less. Around 4 months we didn't give her a bottle for about 3 weeks and that was it for the bottles, she would just chew on the nipple when I tried to give one to her. This was very hard, and I really wish I had known that it could happen, and I would have made sure she got a bottle everyday. I introduced a sippy cup when I noticed this, they make them for 3 m+ now, so I thought it was worth a try. She only takes a few sips from it at a time, and holds it well. She doesn't know to tip it yet but I hope to have her drinking from it by the time she's a year.
