OK, so me and FH have been together forever! (it will be 10 yrs in March) and we somehow always 'knew' that we would get married and even went ring shopping a couple of times. but we never really told anyone....
We had our family over for lunch and then I was in the kitchen alone with FH and all of a sudden he just starts telling me how much he loves me and wants to be with me forever...and in the middle of everything, he says ' Do you want to marry me?' (hence there is NO ring & no down on one knee) LOL so Im like...uhh yes, but are you serious? (b/c my FH is a jokester and i wasnt sure if he was REALLY proposing) LOL and hes like no im serious....and of course I STILL didnt believe it....so Im like, yes we will be getting married...soo we go back to the 'party' and he announces to everyone ' me and Amy are getting married' THEN--that is when it HIT ME LOL ....Im like OMG he was really serious....(b/c since we have been together for so long, we always knew...BUT never 'Officially' made it public LOL) everyone starting congratulating us...and I started crying...Im like OMG this is for real!! WOW>>!!
Me and FH went to our jeweler and picked out the ring I liked!! which was the BEST because he always knew I wanted to pick out what I LIKED Heres the pic.. .It is White gold w/ white and yellow canary diamonds...So i can wear it easily with white or yellow gold

My family and his family knew for a while,. My mom works at a jewelry store so he met my sister and my mom there to pick out the ring. He had gotten a brick at Citifield which said Mara Harvey Will you Marry Me. We had planmned on going to the Mets v. Phillys game with FH's brother and sister in law. The night before he told me that he spoke with my sister and she was going to be at the same game so she will meet us to tailgate. After we tailgated we were on our way to see the brick that they had for his mother (so I thought). He brought me to the brick and proposed.
Then we met his other brother and sister in law in the city and we all went to dinner at our favorite place. He got a room at the Waldorf Astoria for us to stay! It was a perfect night. Although I do have to say that I am glad I knew that we were staying over in the city all along (I thought we were staying with the brother and sister in law) because I was jumping on the bed before we went to dinner(yeah I know real mature) and I ended up breaking one of my straps on my dress! But I had another outfit to change into!
FI Proposed to me a few days before Valentines day (almost a year ago holy cow!) I came home from work friday night and there was a single red rose on the kitchen table. Then i realized he lined the hallway to the living room with candles. When i got into the living room the entire room was lit with candles all over. He gave me a photo book that he had made using photos from our 5 years together, and it had a story to go along with the photos which was 'the story of us'. The last page was blank and all it said was 'Happy ever After' He said when we get married we can add a photo on that page. At That point i was very confused.. was he just being really romantic or was he doing something big? Then he got down on one knee and proposed! The whole thing was SO sweet and so well thought out! And now i have the book to keep forever!
He had went and asked my parents permission so they knew. and his family knew as well. I don't have any photos of the proposal because we were home alone but heres my ring =)
FH proposed on November 20, 2010, our four year anniversary. We started off the night with dinner at Scarpetta in the Meatpacking District and then he took me to the top of the Empire State Building where he proposed. We then called a few family members and friends and went back to his parent's house for a champagne toast. We had dinner with my family the following night.
He had the ring for about a month before he proposed (his brother was responsible for keeping it safe) and my parents knew for about a month beforehand.
He proposed the Saturday before easter.. we were at his apartment (we didnt live together yet) and he told me he bought me an easter present.. it was a HUGE bag i was like hmm ok.. so there was a really sweet card and then a box, not a ring box but a kinda big box which had a precious moment (my chat avatar) and when I looked up he was on his knee and asked me to marry him. I dont have any pics of my ring on my work computer ill add it when i get home later.

FH took me for a walk on the Jones Beach Boardwalk Wednesday June 16, 2010 at sunset. Although it was cloudy all day the rain held off while we were there. On the walk back to the car we decided to stop and sit by the water. When FH was 'ready to go' he actually got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I was so excited that he was proposing that I didn't even realize that I didn't see the ring. After jumping up and down and kissing and crying for a few minutes he asked if I wanted the ring. Of course IT IS PERFECT!!
My mom and dad knew (FH asked Dads permission) and invited FH's parents over for champagne and dessert. My mom also got Champagne Flutes engraved with our names and engagement date on it.
It happened on April 16th 2010 and it was the BEST day of my life!!!!!!!!!!! We had just moved into our apartment together and have been working extremely hard on it...we would work at our jobs during the day then come home at night and work continuously on moving, painting, cleaning and everything else!! We were such an amazing team and finally got it done.. it was about a week after we were all setteled and it was a Friday night.. he wanted to make me dinner (which is typical of FH) so I got a glass of wine and sat in the other room watching TV.. After about an hour, I ran out of wine!! and asked FH if he could go get some more which he kindly replied 'no hunni come eat dinner' (THIS I thought was weird since FH and I love wine with our dinner and the thought of not having any was odd!) ..anyway I go into our dining area and there were dozen roses, my favorite wine, dessert wine and champagne, lit candles everywhere!!!!! I was so impressed, and he cooked my favorite dinner, skirt steak and mashed potatoes!! (simple I know! but I love it) ... we sat down and began eating, FH was SOOOO nervous looking back on it .. he was sweating, studdering, and not making ANY sense when FINALLYY ... he comes around the table, I was confused and asked what he was doing... Then he GETS ON ONE KNEE!!! ahhhhh He took something out of his pocket and told me I was his best friend and everything thats important to him, that I was his whole world and he wanted me to be his WIFE!! He changed my life forever and I am so happy!! I was shaking and hysterically crying as I said YES of course.. we called all our family and friends with the good news and everyone already knew about it but ME! I cried so much after that the FH thought I was upset! LOL I told him I was soo happy ... The ring was gorgeous and the center stone is over 100 years old and was his great grandmothers and also the stone his dad have to his mom.. they are still married she just wanted me to have it as long as I pass it down which of course I will !!!!! Its my most prized possesion and i love it and my FH!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to marry him!!!!!!!!

On November 3rd we went to the Dave Matthews concert at Nassau Coliseum (which was awesome!). The whole car ride home I was complaining that I was exhausted and I had to pee (real classy I know). So when we got home, I ran in to the house and was stopped dead in my tracks. On the kitchen table was a lit up pumpkin carved out with 'Will you marry me? It was the only light on in the house. While we were out, his family set up the pumpkin, a dozen long stem roses, a snow globe engaged with the date, and a bottle of champagne and 2 flutes for us. Needless to say, once I saw this, I forgot how tired I was and how much i had to pee ;)
FH proposed at Short Beach in Smithtown on September 4. We had talked about it a lot and I knew eventually FH would propose, I just had no idea when. FH set up a picnic at the beach. The second he told me he had made plans for the two of us I had a feeling what he was up too! (FH never ever plans anything!). We had lunch at the beach then we went for a walk. On our way back he got down on one knee and proposed! I was so happy/excited I forgot to say yes. FH wasn't putting the ring on my finger and I asked him why he didn't put it on and he said you never gave me an answer! lol My parents had no idea he was planning on do it that day. My mom knew we were talking about it, but she didn't think it would be so soon. His parents both knew and were so excited when we got back to his house.

No one in the restaurant had a clue (which was nice - I am very shy). I called my Dad and he called his Mom on the way home. Oh and I texted a close friend in the restaurant because I had been bitching about it not being ring for like a month to her!
Once we got home I fell asleep because I was so sick. LOL
Oh and the box he wrapped that he made me carry around was a box of Christmas lights that he had the super in our building wrap for him

This is SUCH a cute story, I'm a huge fan of Halloween so I loved your story.
My FH planned a cruise for our 8th anniversary and I had looked for a diamond, but not the setting. He's had the setting for a few years. We went to the Virgin Islands to meet his grandmother for a vacation and while we were down there, she let us choose a setting from her personal collection. So, FH and I had looked for a diamond a few months before the cruise. Apparently everyone knew he was proposing, except me. I thought he would either propose or he would just take me on the cruise to distract me from the bling missing from my finger. So, I planned an anniversary dinner on the boat at their high end steakhouse. We got all dressed up and had a wonderful dinner.. then we went for a walk around the boat. We were at the back of the boat just enjoying the beautiful clear skies and we were pretty much just alone the whole night. He started talking about how perfect it was and how perfectly everything was going... and said 'and your perfect... that's why (pulls out the ring and gets on one knee ) Kristen _____ _______, will you marry me?
So I got all teary eyed... kept saying 'are you sure?' Hugging him and kissing him and trying not to ruin my makeup. So, he eventually pushed me back to ask if that was a yes. LOL yes!
