I was thinking about having my bouquet preserved and put into a shadowbox with one of our invites and (maybe) a black & white picture of FH & I from the wedding.
Here's the thing -- it sounds like the minimum cost would be $400. On the other hand, we would have it with dark wood and the roses are pink as would be the background, which goes with our furniture and china, so we could definitely display it.
Opinions? Here are some examples of what I'm talking about

Re: Bouquet Preservation -- worth it?
I love the idea, but my bouquet was dead before my reception even ended (my local florist did my bouquets, NOT LA Blossom)
So, for me, it would have been a waste of money. All of the stephanotis were COMPLETELY wilted before we finished the night. And, no, it wasn't hot out that day.

I love the idea and I think I would love seeing it for about a year and then I think I may get sick of it. I am not sure it's worth the expense.

Well, I think (especially after reading the thread about people spending on average 30-70,000 on a wedding!!!!!) what is 400 dollars. I say if you want to perserve the memory, and you really like it, just consider it a wedding cost and do it.
I happen to agree with this.
some people spend thousands of $$$$'s on their wedding invites - which people throw away.
at least this is something you can keep and display for years to come.

I love it - I am most likely going to do it also. You do spend alot of money on everything so it would be a nice thing to have as a keepsake.

Mine is 3 dozen pink roses with pearled stephanotis. I would try drying them on my own but I have 3 cats and they seem to think that all my flowers and plants are their toys!

Funny, my cats think my flowers are dinner

I tried drying bouquets from other things -- like when I caught the bouquet at my friend's wedding (she was the 1st of our group to get married) or my former professor's wedding where I also elbowed beyotches out of the way for the bouquet -- and the cats always end up destroying them

Re: Bouquet Preservation -- worth it?
At Michael's on the weekend, I bought a container of that flower drying material (silica, really) that these companies use for floral preservation anyway. I'm planning on taking a flower or two out of my centerpiece sample (same flowers as my bouquet!) and trying them out to see how they'll look.
Is there enough interest that I should post the results of my little experiment?

Just wondering how this worked out?

I would like to have done it, but it was too expensive. I didn't think for me, that it was worth $450.00.

I told my Fiance that I wanted this done . It's such a nice keepsake.
How do you get it preserved? Do you have to mail the bouquet to them or go through your florist? What's the process?

It's beautiful, but IMO, in the greater scheme of things, not worth the money. I will dry my BO-K by hanging it upside down (like I have most other rose bo-ks') and put it in a nice vase for our mantle.
That's what I am gonna do also, dry it and put it in a vase

once you are done with BK... keep it refreigarted and i would get it ship the very next day. sooner you send it, the better.
there are foral companies that will ship it to you for the company or you can call and get directions. (we went through a foral company that was affilated with them)
