I have my second appointment at the Bourne Mansion tomorrow with Ben. I fell in love with it when I saw it and after reviewing all of my options for a mansion wedding for over 200 people there hasn't been anywhere I wanted to look.
I did go see the Glencove Mansion but the Bourne is definitely what I want!
Are there any brides or bride-to be's who recently had their wedding at the Bourne or booked the Bourne that have any suggestions on things I should ask during my second meeting tomorrow?
One question I thought of after my first visit is if they light up the long driveway at night for when the guests are arriving.
Another question is if they allow a groomsmen cake.
Also if there are high and low tables for during the hot and cold hor dour hour.
Any comments, thoughts, or answers are much appreciated!

It is! That would have been another option if they could seat more than 200 for the formal sit down. I have 270 on my invitation list and they said that they can only do 150 sit down unless its European style where the dancing is held after the meal.

I'm getting married at Bourne! So gorgeous!! I did not ask about a groomscake since I don't want one, or about the driveway, but it's so gorgeous regardless since the mansion is lit and you can see it at the end of the driveway. I am pretty sure the tables are high indoors and the tables outside are low.
I need to go back to review some extras and things...one of the things I intend to ask about is signature drinks.
Let me know how it goes!

So exciting! Thanks for the response. You just reminded me when you mentioned the signature drinks (great idea) that one one of the papers in the folder it states that there is a 'no shot' policy at the bar. Did you hear or see this?

yes lessings pretty much has this so no one gets blastedddd.
but Ben told us 'well if you ask for it they won't say no.. they just give it to you in a non shot glass'. Most weddings Ive been to this was the case

Re: Bourne Mansion
I got married at the Bourne in October and it was GREAT!!!
We actually brought in our own cake -- from our own vendor -- not one they use and they had no issue with it --- just had to put the cake vendor in touch with Ben so they can go over the delivery details and such.
We also had the woman that did our cake do choc bonbons/ truffles to be served on everyones tables --- again no issue
Don't know about the driveway --- we had buses transport almost everyone from the Marriott Islandia to the Bourne
We had THE BEST TIME - FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING!!!!
We used In Full Bloom for flowers and Marie is amazing
Skyline -- for the band -- had everyone dancing all nigth long!
You can't go wrong

Re: Bourne Mansion
the bourne mansion was our second choice ... so regal! i walked into that hall and burst into tears. it was just THAT beautiful! perfect for a larger wedding. we are having a smaller wedding so it just wasnt the right place for it.
i would negotiate. ben was willing to work with us which was nice (although not on the site fee which was SCARY for a saturday night lol). all in all its a gorgeous place.
i hope you get married there so i can see your photos! for us we wanted to know if we could take the plants out from the main room which you can. i would definitely do uplight with the organ in the back. GORGEOUS?!?!

Good luck, it's SO beautiful there. I had gone with a friend to look last year. I'm getting married at de Seversky which suits us well with a guest list off 100 (originally 50). We just added a signature drink too! Keep us posted
