I was wondering how everyone is decorating the Mansion. I have been working with someone and she has great ideas but I want to hear what other brides are actually doing. Is anyone going to dedicate the bathrooms to Ladies and Mens? I think it might be an issue with everyone using the same bathroom????? What about the rooms in the back behind the ballroom??? Where the bars are. They are so plain and I am completely clueless with them. I think they need something.

Re: Bourne Mansion Brides
I personally am going to leave the bathrooms so anyone can use them, but I am going to put tables in them with baskets full of toiletries. The room behind the ballroom is, in my opinion, pretty on its own. I am putting pictures on the mantles along with votives, and really am keeping it simple. Part of the reason we chose the Bourne was for how elaborate and gorgeous it already was. JMO. ETA: I am also getting married in the summer and guests will be able to stroll in and out of the mansion, so I just think the effect of that is really nice. I also would like to talk with Ben to get servers for the individual tables. That was one of my concerns.

I agree with 121502.
I am putting pictures and candles on all of the mantles with simple greenery covering the bare spots. I am also putting candles on decorative plates with glass beads surrounding them on the cocktail hour tables.
I think the mansion is beautiful and ornate enough on its own and I don't want to detract from that beauty by over-decorating. JMO

Re: Bourne Mansion Brides
I hope you girls don't mind me jumping in. I was married at the Bourne this past September.
I didn't go overboard with decorating. There's no need to. The place is so ornate with all the details as it is. I didn't bother making baskets for the men's or ladie's rooms either. I had my florist place bowls w/floating roses in the ladies room and that was it. No one complained.
I had the mantles decorated with greenery, candles and framed pictures of both DH's and my family.
Girls, all I have to say is that your guests will be in total awe with the mansion and service!!!! People are still talking about our wedding!!!

Re: Bourne Mansion Brides
ive got to jump in too, first, rachel, what happened to 'princess'
and about the bourne, it is so beautiful already, and from what I have seen of other weddings and the pics posted on here, it appears that there is not much decorating needed. however, i am hiring a day of planner (gina at M and V limos, she specializes in the bourne weddings and is a previous bourne bride herself). she is going to make sure everything is set up properly. the mantles are set up, the bathrooms have signs on the doors, etc. dont go overboard. I am so excited!

Re: Bourne Mansion Brides
To all you bourne mansion brides, I always wanted to get married in a mansion, but I assumed that it was too expensive for me. I was wondering if anyone could give me some app numbers. I also wanted to know if you have to bring in all your own tables, chairs, etc I would really appreciate your advice.

Re: Bourne Mansion Brides
Another Bourne Bride - We are also not designating seperate b-rooms for men and women. We are having a autumn themed wedding so we are decorating the mantles w/ pics, butinstead of greanery we are having fall colored leaves. We are also decorating around the fireplaces w/ mums and up the stairs too. When you first walk in we are having a cornacopia filled w/ fall flowers and gourds spilling out onto the champagne table. For the tables in the cocktail area we are using laterns and other candles. I also wasn't thrilled at the way they decorate the buffet tables tables for cocktail hour so we are having our florist decorate them with fall leaves, wheat, indian corn and gourds.

JenSun- Ben at the Bourne does everything. The catering is done by lessings. You don't have to do anything except get your band/DJ, florist, photo, limos, video, i might be missing something. The catering is done by Lessings. The food is excellent, Call Ben at 631-277-7800. The pricing is great. You can see most of the cost and menu on their web site at www.lessing.com. Lot's of Luck!!!
