Bourne Mansion vs. de Seversky
Help! Trying to decide between Bourne Mansion and de Seversky! I love them both for different reasons.I'm concerned about the dinner/dancing in separate rooms at de Seversky and that the ballroom just might be toooooo grand at Bourne.
We want to do our ceremony outside but worried about it being too hot in July 2012.
Also, most my family and FH's family live in Nassau so it's a bit of a drive out to Bourne w/o great hotel options.
help!!

Re: Bourne Mansion vs. de Seversky
I am getting married at the Bourne and recently went to visit the near by hotels and decided I am going to use the Hitlon Garden Inn for the night of my wedding. It is really nice, less than a 10 minute drive, and they are renovating the rooms this fall!

Re: Bourne Mansion vs. de Seversky
Thanks! Glad to hear the hotel isn't that far away and good to know that they are renovating. Make sure to get the timeline of when it will be complete and then tack on an extra month or two for good measure.I'm actually in the hotel business and renovations are almost ALWAYS delayed.

Re: Bourne Mansion vs. de Seversky
De Seversky is all over LIW as of late! Must be becoming a popular venue. We too had the same dilemma. LOVED both the Bourne and De Seversky. In the end we chose De Seversky for a few reasons.1 - I think it all depends on your guest list size. We knew we wanted a small wedding - 135 guests max so to have it at the Bourne would have been crazy. That room is huge and without a minimum of 150 guests I felt like it would look stupid. Thats just me. Its just THAT grand with those high ceilings etc. We also chose the De Seversky because since we were having a smaller wedding we could do it all in the same room. I didnt want dinner and dancing in seperate rooms.
With that being said I dont think the ballroom can hold more than 135 guests comfortably. You want dance space and when it gets over that I felt like it would be too crowded. Against, just my opinion!
2 - And likewise, the travel distance to the Bourne is great. Consider traffic etc and forget it. We live in Nassau and just didnt want that type of commute for ourselves or our guests.
3 - Lastly, Ben was awesome at the Bourne and gave us numbers we could work with! Both had site fees and both were relatively the same cost per person (def on the higher end when it comes to venues) but we knew in our hearts De Seversky was the place for us!
If I can be of any additional help let me know! Secretly hoping you choose De Seversky ha ha!
