Those are really big differences? Have you seen them both? Any thoughts one way or the other?

Re: Bourne Or Timberpoint..
I am biased because we are having our ceremony/reception at TP. But I am having about 100 people (guarantee is 85, inviting about 130). I haven't seen the Bourne Mansion, but I have heard all good things.
If I was having more guests 175+ I would have looked elsewhere.

We love the Lessings menus, and the holiday Monday is discounted for both. Alas it comes down to the dollars and the very wanted extras

I got married at Timber Point so I am definitly bias, but I've heard wonderful things about Bourne. We didn't check out Bourne because I thought (maybe I'm mistaken) that there was a site fee, which would have been a large additional amount of money.

the site fee I figured for the amount of people we had added on about $20 extra pp to cover the site fee!! Too much for us..

Yes, the site fee is still there but the price was way less for the holiday which helped-its the extras that we want. Timberpoint and the new look are great, but the 175 to 200 is so much better for Bourne.

If you are thinking that many will attend, I say to go with Bourne, IMO the room will handle that better...

Re: Bourne Or Timberpoint..
As far as your headcount, how may are you actually inviting? And try to remember that a bride averages a 20-30% decline rate.
Your real answer should lie in your heart. Close your eyes & imagine your wedding day, now look around & where ever you are is were you should have it!

I picked the Bourne. And just so you know you can get the chocolate fountain at any location.

Although I picked the Bourne, obviously, I think you really need to go on the type of feel that you want. We are not having a huge wedding at all, 150 max, but the ambiance of the place was exactly what we were looking for. We booked WAY in advance, and so the price is much lower per head, as well as the site fee. We decided that the Bourne was the most important aspect, aesthetically, to our wedding, so it was worth the money, so we spent less on our vendors (although we searched high and low for quality). We went with a lot of freelance people to avoid paying overhead charges from big companies. Things like that. I don't know if that helped, but that was just my experience.

Also, see if you can get Ben to throw in the chocolate fountain at the Bourne. It's worth a shot. He's so nice!

Re: Bourne Or Timberpoint..
I am the most recent TimberPoint bride and all I've heard for the last few months is how great the food was and how nice our wedding was. It truly was perfect, Steve and April, my maitre'd's made it go so smoothly.
I just got my proofs back and the new wallpaper and lighting looks amazing in pictures!!!
If money is an issue...go for TP. money was a major issue for us and we managed the chocolate fountain....there's a little secret about it!!!

I LOVE the look of Bourne from pictures. We had our e-party at TP. I think the Bourne seems to be way more elegant, and TP is more warm . . . If that makes sense

I agree w/ 121502 - we chose the Bourne because of the ambiance and the fact that it is not as well known as a lot of other sites. I think it really depends on the 'feel' you are going for. I wanted something very elegant and formal. I also loved the idea of having a mansion to myself for the day. I think timberpoint is less formal. Either way the food should be great. My family has had events at a lot of the lessings locations and everyone always raves about the food and service.

Re: Bourne Or Timberpoint..
TP is not well known either....many of my friends and family responded with 'where' and 'what town is it in'.......the MAIN difference in my opinion, is that TP has that warm, cozy, understated elegance, and country feel to it and Bourne is more of the elegant, classy, opulence of the Great Gatsby days. Two TOTALLY different places.
DH and I fell in love with TP because it had that warm, homey feeling you get sitting by a fire with a cup of warm hot chocolate. It was perfect for us. We had about 137 people there and I do believe they can handle 200 people MAX.
I got the fountain for considerably less than originally quoted....just show interest when doing your final menu. that's when they'll bring the price down for you. They will not allow it to be rented from elsewhere since they own theirs.
