Re: Braces

I looked into Invisalign but due to the cost of them, I will wait until after the wedding. Im not in desperate need of them anyway.

im thinking about getting metal braces but im not sure if 10-11 months is long enough to have them on. my teeth arent bad at all and i dont 'need' braces BUT i always wanted to get them and have a PERFECT smile......if i only have to keep them on for about a year than getting invisaline isnt worth it to me....i rather go the cheapest route possible especially with the wedding coming up.......im going to make an orthodontist appointment and see what happens.

I'm doing invisalign for just a minor space. I've been measured and everything, but my first set of trays haven't come in yet.

If you can get into Manhattan, NYU dental school can do invisalign for 'moderate' cases for about $1200. You work with an undergrad student but the whole thing is supervised by a grad student and a post-doc fellow.

that's a great price -- I wish I had the money! I could use an adjustment. I'm settling for teeth whitening...

Re: Braces

I'm so curious about invisalign. What exactly is it and how much does it approximately cost? Also, how long do you need to wear it for? I really do need braces or something to fix my teeth. The dentist told my mom when I was younger to get me braces, but she never followed through with it. And as I got older I never bothered to go and get braces cause at that point I didn't want to wear metal ones.

I definitely want to fix my teeth now, and the only reason I won't do the metal ones now is because I look very young as it is, so if I got braces, I'd prob look even younger. The problem with that is I'm an attorney, and I have a hard enough time when I go to court as it is because I look young, so having some metal braces on would really not help things. I can't tell you how many times I get asked in court if I'm really an attorney!!!

So I was thinking invisalign might be the way to go, but I wanted more info about it. Anyone who has gotten it, please share? Thanks!
