For the past year I've been having some discomfort in my bottom jaw due to crowding and I've always been so self concious over my overbite/overjet but never had the $$ or bawlz to get it taken care of... So after 30+ years I decided to nip in the bud and meet with an orthodontist.The only issue is is that I can only have them on for 8 months b/c I am moving/getting married. So when I went into the office to talk to the orthodontist she was awesome and outlined a plan to get this done in 8 months! Amazing! It's going to be expensive esp since we are paying for the wedding and my fiance is currently going to school pretty much full time. BUT it'll be worth it! Anyone else have or have had braces?

I had them when I was younger and they arent too bad..make sure you have wax in case a wire breaks- that scuks..its the worst.
My bottom teeth shifted and i want to get braces again on the bottom sometime after the wedding.

ya know whats SO WIERD?? i just made an appt w an orthodontist today for next week!!! i have been embarrassed of my crooked upper teeth since i was little and its so expensive ive always put it off, but if i dont do it before the wedding, when will i??? im meeting to see about the type that go behind your teeth because im getting married in 4 months from today... keep your fingers crossed for us both! My daughter has braces and the only discomfort she had was the 1st 2 day because the braces were rubbing inside her lips..I got the wax dots from CVS and it helped

i think invisalign only works with certain problems. i had braces when i was younger, but then my top teeth shifted because i stopped wearing my retainer. i decided that i needed to have a nice smile for the wedding, so when i went for a cleaning in december, i asked my dentist (who is also an orthodontist) about invisalign and he told me that i would be better off with something else. he said invisalign is expensive and doesn't always work. he ended up putting something behind my teeth and i had to wear a clear retainer for about 5 months (no one noticed it, except for my 2nd graders, who noticed every little detail and said that i talked different). now it's done and and my smile is so much better. it was also very inexpensive.

I had braces when I was younger. I hated them, but if money wasn't an object I would get them again. My top teeth are shifting already (I never wore my retainer... grrr!) and I am so upset with myself. They hurt and they get in the way, but they are worth it in the end. After they come off, wear your retainer!!!! Your teeth shift so easily. Also, I found that they discolor your teeth. I had a baby tooth so they didn't put a brace on one of my teeth... that tooth is still a tiny bit whiter than all my other teeth that had braces on them.

same thing happened to me - my teeth shifted back a little bit - but not too much for me to be concerened...

my friend used invisiline before her wedding and her teeth look great. I took close to 9 months but much better then being a metal mouth.
I wore braces for 2 years in 6th grade. My top teeth are very straight, my bottom teeth shifted a littl but still look good.
