Brain Teaser

There are 2 villages, called the Truth-tellers Village and the Liars Village. The Truth-tellers ONLY tell the truth, and the Liars ONLY lie. A man is walking down a path and comes to a fork in the road. One of the roads leads to the Truth-tellers Village, and the other to the Liars Village, but he does not know which path leads to which village. There is a person standing at the fork in the road, and the man does not know if this person is a Truth-teller or a Liar. However, he needs to find out which path leads to each village. There is one thing he can say to the man at the fork in the road to find out which village is which.

What is that question/statement?? Remember...he has no way of knowing if the man will be a Liar or a Truth-teller.

I'd ask which way the truth villiage was and..
'What time is it'

remember only one question or statement.

if you ask, 'which way to truth villiage' the liar will would point to liars village and the truthteller would point to truth-tellers village.

also, you don't know which village the man is from. therefore, not sure if he is a liar or not.

so what's the friggin answer??

At first I was going to say to ask the guy if he was a liar or a truthteller because either way you would get the answer truthteller but then I realized that you still wouldn't know what road to go down unless you asked a second question.

Wouldn't it work if we changed it up a bit and asked the man if this (and point to path) is the path to the Truth-tellers village? no, that wouldn't work... hmmm...

Or point to a path and say what path is this and you'd still end up with both saying Truth-teller...

I know this one actually...so if you want the answer I'll post it below












































point to a village and ask the guy 'if I asked you if this was the way to the truth tellers village would you say yes'

that way the liar has to tell the truth b/c he would lie if you asked that question...

If he is a truth person he would point to the truth village and if he was lying he would point to the truth village.

Ahhhh, nice thinking Kel

sorry for the late response. some of you are techinically right w/ the question, 'can i come home w/ you?' however, he could simply answer w/ a 'yes or no' response.

if phrased as a statement

'take me to your home'
'take me to your village'
'point to your village'

you'll end up in truth tellers village.

annoying, right. it took me days to get this.
