Brand New Here, Fall 2011 Bride!

Hi everyone! Just engaged. Happy to be able to start posting finally.

I am 'brand new' here. I say that lightly, because I have been on these boards many, many times over the past several years. I'm a photographer and find myself on liweddings frequently because of other wedding related topics, or to help MY brides.

Now it's finally my turn

We're getting married November 19, 2011 at the Queens County Farm Museum in the barn. It's everything I've always wanted as far as the setting. I have SO many ideas for decorations, favors, etc.

I'm having a heck of a time getting potential vendors to reply to my emails though. Is this typical? Don't they want our $$?

Also, the big, big question is about a photographer. The running joke is 'how are you going to shoot your own wedding?!' SO stressful for me. I need to find an amazing, personable photographer, whose style I love (vintage/photojournalistic) and who I can afford to pay what they charge/deserve. ANY recommendations are appreciated.

Anyway, it's very nice to be here. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Trust me; i understand! I work long hours during the day so i have NO time to go home and make 'wedding calls'. I do ALL my planning over e-mail. If i don't hear back from a vendor after 2-3 e-mails; i don't even bother pursuing them!

Congrats and welcome! As for your questions...sometimes it takes a long time for vendors to email me back too. I'm guessing its even worse now that its wedding season and theyre super busy. Not that that should give them an excuse to ignore you but still. Maybe try sending a second email or give them a call?

We are using Aaron Almendral for photography. He is very reasonable and has the photojournalistic style we were looking for. Make sure you click 'more photos' at the top of his website.
