Re: BRAND NEW LEONARD'S OF GREAT NECK THREAD
i first started there w/antonio-he was very rude and changed prices the 2nd time we went there...he also did not let us see the room we really wanted (and could have had) for our wedding-huge dissapointment.
then we change to maurizio and i felt him to be very cocky-
and at last, we started ealing w/the owner of leonards-bc a family friend knew him n he took care of us.....
#1-VALET SHOULD BE INCLUDED NO MATTER WHAT! Never heard of this!!!!!!!!!

hey i was just thinking maybe u are paying for all this because u are not having the food from them?? u are just renting the room out right? maybe that makes a difference...does anybody know when the next food tasting is?? how anyone gone? is it a big selection of food?
I'm not sure when the next food tasting is but you only get to taste the cocktail hour food. They will set it up somewhat mocking what a typical cocktail hour room will be like. They don't have a full blown cocktail hour tasting but with descent amount of food!!! It is usually on Saturday afternoon........

This is hilarious. I could see where people are coming from with Antonio. he's a hard read. I did feel at times that he came off like I was bothering him- so what? I was more concerned that he answered my questions which he always does. It's funny because there are also days when he's really nice. As far as the inconsistencies with what they tell us- I don't know I guess it does depend on the time of year you book so they'll throw in items to lure you. BTW I saw the new doors - very nice- I hope they can get rid of the painted trees and birds in the empire room ceiling. lol.

Re: BRAND NEW LEONARD'S OF GREAT NECK THREAD
Don't stress guys. I am two weeks away from my wedding and everything had been fine so far. In regards to the inconsistencies, that is found with any hall. Some ppl are really good at negotiating and get tons of stuff thrown in, others are not. In regards to valet, I am positive it is included. Call your BM if you are being charged a fee for it. Honestly if I had to pay for it, I would opt not to do it, because I personally don't like to valet unless I have to. I have delat with Maurizio and he was nice and FH and I both got along with him. I had my last meeting with Ian as he is the closer and he was fine too. Just let them know what you want/expect and they will work with you. The wedding business is heavy on word of mouth so of course they would want to help you.
Hope this helps!

well said. it pretty much boils down to your individual experience. at times i'm hesitant about posting my opinions because they are exactly that MY opinions and are not exactly indicative of the experiences that other brides had or will have. best of luck with your wedding. I rememeber you helping me out with a very thorough fm about the vendors we share. i really appreciate that. btw What exactly do they do in the final meeting.? feel free to fm me.

Me either i found him to be very nice and helpful. When I booked I went with FH and my parents and he worked with us.. my mom is making our cake so we didn;t need the one they offer so he said he would include something else in place of the cake since it was already included in the fee... I never got a sense that he was rude or trying to rush us..... Does anyone know when the next tasting is after the 4th?

Like I said he's never been rude, he just seemed hurried but he's never been nasty. But, and i swear to you this happened, we also asked about the option to substitute something for the cake if we chose not to get the cake there and his words were- we do not do that. he said the cake was a gift from them so we weren't paying for it in the first place and the contract does say t's a gift- very interesting. lol

No problem! I think a few other folks would benefit from knowing what the final meeting is about so here goes (I know at first I had no clue what that was): Leonard's (in particular Ian) will call you two months before your wedding to have the final meeting. During this meeting you will go over your contract IN DETAIL and will review all the choices you made. This is the time when you can remove or add to your menu and cocktail hour. Ian is a man of strong opinions, but if you tell him you don't like something or want to change, he'll do it. I remember he kept pushing the tri-color salad on me saying he was losing money on it and that it was very elegant and different. I was adamant about the Ceasar salad and he backed down. I also pushed hard for my votive placecards and he worked with me in the set up to make sure they would work.
After we went over everything in regards to food we then moved on to the cake. The cakes are okay. Nothing you would see in Martha Stewart weddings or anything, but you can customize to a certain extent. Since I am having the full Vienesse I am doing exactly what Smara and SIBRIDE06 decided to do - Simplify the cake, round stacked and have the florist work his magic on it. I saw SMara's cake in person and it was very beautiful - there is a certain elegance in simplification !
After the 'Food' subject is decided upon you move on to the actual items, likes menus, placecards, direction cards, etc. He is flexible with everything. I am having my own menu's made, I am not using their placecards as I am doing votives, I am not using Leonard's table numbers since I am doing my own, and I had my own direction cards printed to go with my invites. Clearly I differed from the norm but Ian rolled with it. Then we took another tour of the reception room and discussed various set ups that would work depending on the size of the party. I told him I did not want the floral table tops anywhere and only wanted the ivory lace tops. He gave me my final documentation and that was it!

There is a floral top that looks like its burgundy with yellow, if I remember correctly. I didn't like it and since my colors are brown and pink with creme that would clash, so I had him write it in my contract that the floral table tops should not be used. I am going to have my day off coordinator check before the reception too just in case.
