What do they feel like? I think I've had some. My books say it's normal after 20 weeks. Anyone have any ideas on that?

Re: Braxton Hicks contractions
Theyre basically painless but your belly gets really tight and hard. They're normal and usually less common with a first baby. I dont remember ever having them with my son but I got them alot this pregnancy. Just one thing to look out for, if you get them constantly, like all day long or a few times an hour, you may be dehydrated, which is obviously not good for you or the baby. So just be sure you make a mental note of that just in case. I didnt know that until it happened to me. Generally though, they're just your uterus 'practicing' for the real deal.

You'd know. Your belly gets really really tight AND you'd know the difference between them and real contractions, which is a common question.
