Re: Bread Machine
I have one and have used it only 2 times in over 4 years of having it. I have to say the two times that I did make the bread, I got great compliments.

Re: Bread Machine
I LOVE MY BREAD MACHINE!!!
I had a friend who used to bring bread to work and I always said when I get married the first thing on my registry is a bread machine. When I got engaged my MOH and BM bought me one as a goofy engagement present. It makes delicious bread and is the easiest thing in the world to make. I can't cook and it's idiot proof!
Totally recommend it if you like bread and the smell of bread throughout the house.

Re: Bread Machine
I have the one from Breadman - it's awesome! It's so incredibly easy to use it's not even funny. The bread tastes delicious - once you start using it, you won't want regular store-bought bread! With mine you can also make pizza dough and jam.

Re: Bread Machine
how long does it usually take to make the bread. I got a breadmaker for my shower and have looked in the book and it looks like it takes forever for the bread to bake so I have not tried it yet

Re: Bread Machine
it depends on the size of the loaf - but it's about 3 hrs or so. Since you literally throw in the ingredients and turn on the machine, you can do other things while you're waiting. It's so easy....

Re: Bread Machine
The recipes that come with the machine are good - I make an herb bread or just regular white. Just be sure to put in all the ingredients in the order they say - it matters. The yeast shouldn't be mixed in with the liquid, it should be on top of the flour (you can make a well with the flour).I also use flour specifically made for bread machines, although I'm not sure what the difference is.....if you don't have any, I wouldn't worry about it.
Then enjoy!

Re: Bread Machine
We didn't get one because we thought it would collect dust.

Re: Bread Machine
I got one for my shower and I totally have to agree with Teri, I LOVE it. I made some bread for the first time this weekend and Gary and I went nuts over it, it was soooo good. And Teri is right, so easy to do. Of course it is cumbersome and is annoying to take it out and put it back, but it is so worth it!!!

Re: Bread Machine
I love my bread machine. But I actually can't remember the last time I used it to make bread!
I use it all the time to make pizza dough. I have a pizza baking stone and FH and I love to make our own pizzas. They come out great! In the summer I make the pizza on the BBQ. We also make calzones and I have a recipe for sausage bread that is so yummy and I use the pizza dough for that too.

Re: Bread Machine
This thread is making me want to bake a loaf of bread. LOL! I think I will try a new recipe! I have a great book called The Cook's Encyclopedia of Brad Machine Baking by Jennie Shapter. Everything in it looks so delicious!!!

Re: Bread Machine
My breadman is bigger then my toaster over, smaller then my microwave if thats at all helpful. Its pretty big! I've only used it once because I lack patience, but intend to use it more often. It takes over 3 hours to make most types of breads.

Re: Bread Machine
thanks valenia....thats not so bad...it's just that im afraid if it's too hard to store and access, i will never use it...thats what happened with my kitchen aid stand mixer....it's so heavy and a chore to get out and get it going, that i would rather just use the hand mixer..

Re: Bread Machine
I want to get a bread machine but am not sure I'll use it often for the same reasons as in the other post (too big and bulky). Although bigger than a toaster smaller than a microwave doesn't sound that bad.....maybe we'll start looking
I love bread - especially fresh bread
