wow! That is VERY close to the High School, Middle School and an elemertary school. I can see why they locked down the schools!

(10/07/04) HICKSVILLE – A possible car sale turned into a home invasion nightmare for a Hicksville man Thursday.
The incident began when two men pretending to be interested in buying a car showed up at the individual’s 6th Avenue home. Police say when the unidentified man went inside his home to get the car keys, the two men followed him. According to police, a scuffle broke out and ended with one of the suspects pulling a gun. The gun discharged and wounded the Hicksville man in the head.
Neighbors say they saw two individuals run out of the house toward Hicksville High School. For apparent safety reasons, officials locked down the high school for a period of time. All students were later sent home.
The wounded man is recovering at an area hospital, and police say he was able to call 911 on his own.
