Breakouts......Facials?

I get bad breakouts on the sides of my chin. Yuck. I thought maybe to start going for a facial once a month from now till the wedding might help a little, but I didn't realize they were as expensive as they are and I didn't want to spend the money if it's not worth it.

Do you think it will make a difference at all? What else should I try?

Yes!! it SOO makes a difference. Do 2 in a row (once a month or one every 6 weeks) and see if you think it'll be worth doing it until your wedding. I love love lvoe it. I'm doing one right before my make-up trial so it'll look good and then right before the wedding.

Re: Facials?

i know, seriously, I bet half of it is from the phone and from resting my chin in my hand which is a habit I'm really trying to break. I'll have to get some wipes and wipe my cell phone. Also I teach exercise classes so I sweat a ton, I use those astringent wipes right after but it is hard to control.

Re: Facials?

I have the same problem. I wish I could go for facials before my wedding but it just won't fit into the budget. I just have to pray that I will be fine and I am going to start wiping my phone down a thousand times a day with alcohol. I know one girl who got a facial the day before her wedding her face was so red. So make sure if you go that it's a couple of weeks before.

Re: Facials?

Usually breakouts that occur around the chin and jawline are hormone related. Sometimes they can be blemishes on the surface, other times they can be painful cyst-like bumps underneath the skin.

Since I have been off BC I have noticed this area breaking out more. I used to work in a holistic medial practice/spa and I can say that regular facials (one facial every 4-6 weeks) will ABSOLUTELY help minimize these eruptions, even if they are hormonal. Even though they are expensive, it's soooo worth it. I also do salicylic acid peels (which is the exact same thing as asprin -- completely natural) which helped to unclog pores and get rid of dead skin cells.

It's important that proper follow up is necessary in order to maintain the benefits of the facial. Throw out old makeup and try mineral makeup instead (Jane Iredale is amazing), and avoid products with oil and sodium laureth sulfate (a detergent) which is the frothy foamy stuff found in most cleansers -- very bad! It strips the skin and makes your sebaceous glands to overproduce, causing more breakouts. Cream cleansers are actually best for combination or sensitive skin. Also, 2-3x a week, use a good exfoliator. I only use certified organic face products and they work wonders.

If you need any recommendations for an aesthetician, FM me. I am also familiar with a multitude of great product lines (and no, I don't work for any of them).

You would think that I do this for a living! I have a passion for skin care and all things wellness related.

Wow thank you! I started using Neutrogena Rapid Clear about a month ago, it is a cream, and it has definitely helped a little bit. I also bought the wipes and the topical cream with that line, and I use Aveeno Medicated face lotion.. and I still get them. I get the big ones under the skin.

I will try the facials. Since they are big and under the skin they are hard to cover with makeup and I definitely don't want that at the wedding

Surely!

Chemical peels are only done by a professional aesthetician, including a salicylic acid peel. They are amazing, though. They also help to get rid of lines (which I thankfully don't have yet) as well as hyperpigmentation).

As for products, MyChelle is a great line and very moderately priced; it's found in stores like Wild By Nature (is there one by you? There is one in E. Setauket and Huntington Village. You can also order online). The leader in the industry is Eminence Organics. Their prices AREN'T cheap, but keep in mind they are SUPER concentrated and you're supposed to use a very small amount. Literally, a cleanser can last you a year or more. They smell incredible. My favorite product is their Pear & Poppy Seed Microderm Polisher..... DELISH!!!! totally worth investing!!!

Re: Breakouts......Facials?

I also have a huge skin problems! and I've been avoiding facials because of how expansive they are. But before the wedding I just knew I had to change that!
I got a package and started going once in 3-4 weeks and now I'm down to 4-6 weeks
It helped a lot! My face is so much smoother and actually glowing. I also started using Proactive and love it!!! I also got a pore minimizing treatment lotion and I've noticed a big improvement in my pore size!!!
I deff recommend adding the extra expense look at it as a makeup/hair trial its something completely for u to help u boost ur confidence and assure u will look ur best on ur wedding day!

Neutrogena is good, I find them to be very drying sometimes. Aveeno is probably a little gentler.

Oh!!! in the Eminence line -- there is a booster -- a serum -- that fights hormonal breakouts I have to find it

Also -- Murad moisturizing acne gel is AMAZING but $48

I have been using Aveeno for sensitive skin and it seems to be very gentle but it does foam so now I am wondering if I should change.

only switch if you notice you're breaking out more, or feel super dry. if you feel balanced, you're probably okay.

I want to do them also, but they do get pricey. I'm going to try and do at home facials and see if anything happens. And then I'll go get the real thing done a few months before the wedding.

I have scars that need minimizing. Do you think that acid peel would help? I was told Microdermabrasion. Which is better?
