sometimes this is all that calms her down. I try a lot of other things first, all the tricks, yet sometimes, giving her the breast is all that works.
Is this wrong to do?

Re: breast as a pacifier
I think Niha had this issue. I cannot seee a problem with it though unless your nipples are hurting or cracking etc..

If it does not bother you, then it is not a problem.

Babies who nurse do so for hunger, thirst or comfort! There's nothing wrong with it ... if it keeps her happy ... let her at it!

Re: breast as a pacifier
My daughter, Maiah, is 15 months now. I can't get her to sleep without nursing. She wakes up about once every two hours during the night to breastfeed and constantly wants it all day. I'm not complaining, but.....will it ever end?

Re: breast as a pacifier
ok sounds good! i wasnt sure if this was a 'bad' thing to do for later on. My mom says that for the first few months it's really just about making the baby feel secure, and you just give her whatever makes her feel safe and happy. So boobie it is! It's very sweet actually, and she doesnt' expect it when I am not around - so it's not like she screams for it when I am out. But when I'm there, I can calm her down at any point.
Thanks for the feedback.

Re: breast as a pacifier
Another human pacifier here!! We tried very hard to get Lyla to take a pacifier, but she prefers me, so at first I let her nurse whenever she wanted. Now, I try sometimes to comfort her in other ways, but she is still a frequent nurser and I nurse on demand and through the night.

Re: breast as a pacifier
You are doing great! In the first 3 months I either had a baby or a pump attached to my breast at all times (or at least it felt that way!)

Madeleine seems to enjoy using me as a pacifier as well, I thought I might be doing something wrong... glad to know that I'm not alone!
