I was just wondering... Each time I pump I get anywhere from 2-3oz on each side (give or take a little). Now in a bottle Caiden eats 3oz. each time. So, if I'm not pumping as much as he eats when it's in a bottle, he must not be getting enough when he BF? What do you think?

Re: Breast milk question...
Im not an expert here. but I remember hearing that there's NO comparison between how much you pump and how much the baby gets out if he's nursing. The baby will get MUCH more than any pump will, just from the natural human $uck. (is that what your question was?) I could be wrong, BF mommy-experts, what have you heard?

the baby gets more nursing than you can pumping - i think it's approx an ounce more.
Pumping is NOT the same as BFing. I mean, sometimes I pump 4-5oz each side and other times I pump 1 oz each side. Your baby is getting enough if he/she is nursing often, has proper weight gain at the dr. visits and has enough wet/dirty diapers each day.
You are doing great Melissa.

He is probably just enjoying the ease of the flow from the bottle. I think many babies eat more from the bottle than breast.

Ditto to what everyone said. The pumping motion is not the same as sucking so that is why the amounts vary. This is also why pumping may decrease supply.
