bridal couture of manhasset

bridal couture of manhasset

so after I put a post about how much dresses were, I thought why not search about the dress place I liked the most? bridal couture. they seemed great because I loved the light silky dress I tried on. and oh yeah only they get the dresses, and oh so unique. yeah right!

after reading many posts on here I decide to look at Jim Hjelm gowns. and almost right away see the gown I loved! I would be able to pick it out anywhere. I stood there in it for 30 minutes while talking to the girl who worked there and my maid of honor.

isn't that gown adorable?

so yeah it's definitately true. they're a bunch of liars over there. the good thing is just so happens Jim hjelm is having a trunk show this weekend at Kleinfelds. where I have been wanting to go the past 2 weeks. I knew it was weird when I asked what designer the gown was and she didn't tell me. meanwhile every other place proudly told you. and then reading posts about cash only deposits? not me or anyone in my family is paying for anything with cash. actually I don't even think besides when we go to hair salons, or nail salons that any of us ever even carry cash on us! so any girl wanting to check out gowns on long island, don't go there. I'm so upset with how they just lie, how you can't find their gowns anywhere, yeah right.

how is a place like that in Manhasset? isn't it supposed to be luxury shopping?

Are you saying they took the label out of the dress?

Re: bridal couture of manhasset

i went there when gown shopping and none of the dresses i tried had the tags in them. when i asked the designers they wouldn't tell me. so i just left and didn't look back, even though they had some nice dresses. it's hard to know if you are getting a fair/unfair price without knowing the designer. seemed dishonest to me.

don't know if it's different now though.

eta - also when i went there, the lady told me that every dress i tried on was 'BEAUTIFUL'! gimme a break. they just wanted me to buy was my feeling.

yes! when I tried looking it wasn't there. I asked what the designer was, and she was like oh only we get these dresses, they go straight though us nowhere else blah blah blah. it bothered me because I would want to be able to say a designer, not just say oh a no name. I loved the silky dress though and didn't see anything like that anywhere. till today on the designers website.

You definitely should have gone two doors down to the Wedding Salon..I went there and they were a lot nicer (didn't get the dress there, but had two good experiences there)-that other store has a totally snooty reputation...as for paying with cash..some places will only take that or check and sometimes you get a break using cash, jmo...good luck in your dress search!!

when I asked they just went on and on how only they get the dresses, and nowhere else. how it's sucha deal, blah blah blah. I thought it was odd, but the dress was so beautiful. it was silky, and so light on me. than my maid of honor was like oh she loves things not everyone else has. so right away that set up the oh we can customize it, and no one else will have this dress, blah blah blah. sorry but I rather a designer dress, straight from the designer knowing who that designer is. than I started reading on here about cash only deposits? and how rude they get, and mess up alterations. and if I can't get the dress anywhere else why is the designer all over manhattan? and having a trunk show this saturday!!!!

Re: bridal couture of manhasset

the wedding salon was nice. they were totally crowded the day I went. which made bridal couture better because I went in and it was calm, and they kissed my ***. once the girl saw my mother wasn't with me at wedding salon though it was like okay that's it with you. she did help me try on 2 gowns though. I guess I understand if they're crowded, and have real sales they can get, to put them over me who is just there looking. I could never buy a gown without my mom or grandma there. especially when they are paying for it.

i went to he bridal salon , and had amazing experience!..they are soo VERY helpful and have a great tdeal of patiecne (i think i made their record book with trying dresses on) they truly wanted to help me find the 'dress.' jordana was the girl who helped me and she was amazing. the owners are very nice and helpful as well! i would suggest to go there on a weekday or when there isnt a trunk show, adn they could help you for a longer time.
i also heard some bad things about bridal couture...
bridal salon doesnt carry jim hjelm, but originally i was looking at jim hjelm and they carry it at Adrienne's. they have locations in NYC and LI--- try there. I went to the store in NYC and she was very helpful.

I had a not so great visit to Bridal Couture. I HATE when people try to do a hard sell on anything! and they definitely push there. Also, when they found out that I was no there to buy on the spot....does anyone do that?...I could literally see the lady who was helping me attention span shorten!

OHHH almost forgot... the broad had the gall to ask me 'how much are you looking to spend?'.....WHAT!! Right there my BM and MOH's noses went in the air. Never again.

I wasn't planning on smearing their name, its truly not my style, however I see there is a general consensus about the questionable way they conduct business.

I have to say I am shocked. I got my wedding gown from there, as well as my bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dress. I tried on MANY dresses there and they told me the designers of all of them, one being a jim hjelm. I have been in there easiy 20 times now and have had nothing but positive experiences. They even talked me out of the more expensive veil this weekend! Also, I have always paid with checks there and have never had a problem.

Maybe it was a rough day, but they have been nothing but nice while I have been there.

Good luck, i guess every store is not a fit for everyone. I have dealt with bridal reflections a few times and would rather shoot myself than go back there! Others have had great experiences!!!

i had 2 good experience at Bridal Couture, i agree though abou thtem cutting out hte labels, but i knew what designer the dress was without the lables cause i study them online lol.

But they didnt try to hard sell me, and the both times i went i tried on like 20 dresses, very patient and they knew i wasnt buying cause i was alone.

Wedding Salon, i had a great experience i wasnt with my mom, and the girl spent hours with me, she was sooo nice and kept bringing me soooooo many dresses.

I feel i got great service at both places...i definately wouldnt purchase from bridal couture though cause of the horror stories i have heard but there were some Wealthy people there this weekend so they must be keeping them in business

Ugh - Sugar Plum does the SAME thing... We looked there for a MOB dress. Awful selection (IMHO) and so overpriced. They claimed all their dresses were made specially for them, which is definitely NOT true.

Take your business elsewhere!

that's good to know. I was telling my mom to check that place out. no sugarplum for her than. she's very into designers, she'll go nuts if they don't tell her lol.

hmmm that is so weird with the label thing, cant believe they wont tell you.

The cash thing can actually help you, just so you know....many places will give you a discount and i know this way before planning this wedding, most places will give you something for less if you pay in cash...Infact one of our vendors told us to pay in cash the rest of our payments since the deposit i charged my debit card bc this way we get charged no tax.

I NEVER have cash on me but when i go to a vendor i just take money out of the atm

This is funny bc I called Sugar Plum just to see if they carried a dress and the woman on the phone was so RUDE. She had no patience and couldn't have been any less helpful and this was a 7 min phone conversation. I felt like I asked to come pick my up and give me a piggy back to the store.

I have to agree with this! I bought my gown there also and I have had nothing but good experiences there too.. They can come off a little pushy but it didnt bother me at all. And I know of A LOT of places that cut the tags out of the dresses so that people cant go and try to find a better deal on it... it ***** but its the nature of business sometimes. At the end of the day, buying a wedding gown is an emotional purchase and poeple in that industry definitly try to play on that! It ***** but if you are aware of that your ahead of the game.... I like Bridal Couture.... I just hope that I dont have any problems with my bridesmaids dresses when they come in or any alterations on my dress. I have to admit that some of the stories are making me nervous but I guess we shall see... and hope for the best.

Re: bridal couture of manhasset

I loved Bridal couture before I started realizing things. and reading things on here. I know i'm gonna need tons of alterations (big chest, small hips) so I def don't wanna have to deal with any problems there. I also want to know who my designer is. especially if I will be spending a lot of money. also the fact they lied to me. they do not only work with that designer, and only they get the gowns. they try to sound special & unique when they're just lying and ripping tags out.

also when we went upstairs it sort of annoyed me when she kept showing a plum dress when I said Lavender. now it's okay for my girls to mess with me saying oh what about this color, but a stranger to try to convince me a different color just no. plus I said satin and she kept showing some tulle bridesmaid gown. whatever it was. maybe they are great sometimes but with all the complaints I rather not take my chance. plus how dare they lie right to my face. or anyones face for that matter. if only they carried that designer, there wouldn't be a trunk show this weekend at Kleinfelds!

I hate places like that. they are supposed to be trying to get your business. my mom is very into designers, and worked at high end stores for years, years ago. if she feels one ounce of snottyness or rudeness she'll run out of the store. aren't there any normal nice dress places for moms?
