so after I put a post about how much dresses were, I thought why not search about the dress place I liked the most? bridal couture. they seemed great because I loved the light silky dress I tried on. and oh yeah only they get the dresses, and oh so unique. yeah right!
after reading many posts on here I decide to look at Jim Hjelm gowns. and almost right away see the gown I loved! I would be able to pick it out anywhere. I stood there in it for 30 minutes while talking to the girl who worked there and my maid of honor. http://www.jlmcouture.com/products/view/273 isn't that gown adorable?
so yeah it's definitately true. they're a bunch of liars over there. the good thing is just so happens Jim hjelm is having a trunk show this weekend at Kleinfelds. where I have been wanting to go the past 2 weeks. I knew it was weird when I asked what designer the gown was and she didn't tell me. meanwhile every other place proudly told you. and then reading posts about cash only deposits? not me or anyone in my family is paying for anything with cash. actually I don't even think besides when we go to hair salons, or nail salons that any of us ever even carry cash on us! so any girl wanting to check out gowns on long island, don't go there. I'm so upset with how they just lie, how you can't find their gowns anywhere, yeah right.
how is a place like that in Manhasset? isn't it supposed to be luxury shopping?

I hate places like that. they are supposed to be trying to get your business. my mom is very into designers, and worked at high end stores for years, years ago. if she feels one ounce of snottyness or rudeness she'll run out of the store. aren't there any normal nice dress places for moms?
It's tough. My mom got her dress at Lord & Taylor in Manhattan. She made a special trip in to go shopping there. The sales staff was incredibly NOT helpful with suggestions, finding out what colors things come in, etc. They were downright rude. However, once they saw you walking around carrying a dress, they'd run up to you and say 'you want to take this dress?' so they could ring you up (and I assume get the commission). If she hadn't found THE dress there, she probably would have walked out.

That is so weird because i purchased my gown thre last month and everyone was so sweet and helpful. My sales consultant gave me the name of all the designers and she did inform me that they did not take credit cards just cash or check. it was a lovely experience that i even purchased my bridesmaids dresses there. The girl who helped me was so helpful getting me the swatches before i ordered since those small pieces in the book are so tiny. so far so good for me!!!

See, I wouldn't buy something from a shop that doesn't take credit cards, especially a shop with big-ticket items. Why won't they take credit cards? Are they playing with taxes, perhaps? Or, more likely, are they afraid that if you're not happy with the gown or the service you might question the charges, and they'll have to deal with credit cards' buyer protection? It's a huge red flag. I'd walk out if I heard that. We haven't done anything with cash for the wedding--not that we don't have it, we do, but if there's any problems, we want to have the buyer's protection on our side. It's not worth saving a little bit of money and giving up that peace of mind. Because I've heard horror stories of bad vendors preying on brides and engaged couples.

I posted it earlier, but I love it there! I met with the designer as well, Daniel Thompson! Is that who you met? What does your dress look like? Who was your salesperson? I am glad you gave it another shot! I even got swatches early of my bm dresses so i can start shopping for shoes and stuff!!

Your dress is beautiful. He made mine also. he is wonderful, he actually made me a muslin to see where it would fall on my chest. I got my veil and headpiece there as well. SO far, everything is wonderful!

I got my veil there too, he's making mine. with crystals on it.
is a head piece the same as a tiara? like would you wear either a head piece or a tiara? or are you supposed to wear both? obviously I know nothing about weddings lol. I almost got a head piece there but figured I'd go check out Thomas Knoell first.

Re: bridal couture of manhasset
They have some issues over there. My bridesmaid ordered her gown from there for another wedding she was in. She lives long distance so she had to give her measurements over the phone ( which she had just gotten and are accurate because she had just gotten fitted for my wedding). Well, the salesperson there took it upon herself to order the dress 2 sizes bigger than my actual bm's size. Her response was ' I couldn't see you over the phone so I ordered the dress 2 sizes bigger just to make sure'. Now my friend's alterations will cost her as much as a new dress ( which she now has to order and possibly pay for). I wouldn't recommend that place to anyone....

It's curious that salons can even survive with sale tactics like that..... refusing info on the designer, being a bit underhanded, and trying to lock you into a deposit with no hope of ever seeing the $$ again.
you sure they weren't trying to sell you a used car
