Re: bridal dress
I had a nice experience at the wedding salon in manhasset as well as at lillettes, i had an okay experience (even though I found my dress there but it was WAY overpriced) at bridal reflections in massapequa (Lower price point than the one in carle place) even though i didnt buy at either of those places..had an awful experience at macys manhasset and went to davids on a couple of occasions and they were also pretty terrible..it's good to go to a place where they'll show you the shape you like (wedding salon) and then shop based on those shapes and ideas (ie. beading vs lace vs none) Good luck!!

Re: bridal dress
I hated David's bridal!! They were so rude! And I didn't like the quality of the dresses. They were just copies of the designer originals I wanted. Definitely go to Kleinfelds!!!

I hated Bridal Reflections in Carle Place, they were so nasty!
I got mine at Macy's Bridal (Manhasset) and I love my dress - it's exactly what I had ever wanted in a bridal gown.

Try RK Bridal in Manhattan. It's only a few blocks from Penn Station, right up 8th avenue, you can walk there easily. I did it on a cold and windy day with my mom who has knee problems and it was no big deal. What happens there is you show up, sign in, and then wait for your turn. I went on a weekday during Christmas week so I have no idea how long you have to wait, I expect it could be a long time on a Saturday, and I know they have a five gown try-on limit on Saturdays. So see if you can do a different day. Anyway, you then go and find the dresses you want to try on, they're all in racks by designer. If you have some dresses in mind from magazines or the Internet, find them and hang them on a rack and tie them with a ribbon to reserve them. Then, you probably will have plenty of time to just go and poke around the dresses. They're in garment bags, but you can open them and look. Most salons won't let you poke through the samples! And it's fun. I found what ended up being one of my top two dresses that way--just saw it on a rack, decided to try it on, and loved it. Also watch the other brides, see what they're trying on and how they look. Dresses look very different on people than on the rack or in a magazine. And dresses are very different in person than in a magazine. There were dresses I thought were beautiful online that I saw in person and thought 'yuck, what tacky beading!' And then there was the dress that I just happened to find: I never looked at Allure gowns because their ads are so horrible, the models look like they're posing for lingerie or porn, but the dresses themselves are really nice when you see them in person. And then when it's your turn you can try on the dresses you've chosen, and your salesperson can also make suggestions and bring you other dresses you may not have known about or thought of.
Or--your other choice is to go to a full service salon and put yourself in the hands of a competent salesperson. Say, I'm getting married on this day, I like this and this, what can you show me? It just depends on your personality. I preferred doing it on my own.
Good luck!

Re: bridal dress
Bridal Reflections was the second place I went and the service I received wasn't that much better. I also went to RK Bridal in Midtown. I ended up getting my dress from Macy's in Herald Square (twice). The second time I had the entire store to myself with three different attendants helping me including the manager! I must have tried on a dozen dresses that day and they were very patient

Ew Try Bridal Reflections in Massapequa, they were pretty nice. There was a younger girl who helped me, she was really nice, and had lots of ideas. I went to the Bridal Suite in Huntington, they were really nice and very patient and had a lot of dresses. I ordered my dress from them. HTH
