Bridal Dress- Length of Time to Order

Bridal Dress- Length of Time to Order

I was told today that I should order my wedding gown 9 months beforehand because they are made in China and that is how long it takes to get here. Is that correct? I feel like I am way behind schedule now!

I've heard that 6 months is sufficient amount of time unless it's a custom order, then that I'm not sure of.

I just ordered my dress last week for a wedding in April, so I think you're okay, but I'd start looking either way.

I was told the same thing!!! Did Centereach Bridal tell you that?

They were driving me crazy... one minute they told me my bridesmaid dressed should have been ordered a few weeks ago because of the Chinese New Year and the next minute they tell me I have until November. I put my girls under so much pressure to get measured. When I went today to order they told me they would be in around January.. that is practically 2 months from now.

Re: Bridal Dress- Length of Time to Order

Some people I know ordered a year in advance- it's acutally depends on the store and the designer- sometimes 9 months is the shortest amount of time since there can be issues! (I almost had an issue with the delivery of my gown!)

I got my gown one month before I got married and had ordered it about 9 months before I got married.

But to play is safe- the sooner the better. Just don't wait too long to do it.

it really depends on where you order it from

At Kleinfeld they told me I should order 8 months in advance - when I asked my consultant if that would be a problem since my wedding was definitely less than 8 months. She told me not to worry! I wouldn't stress about it!

it depends on the store and the designer. don't tell them your real wedding date just in case!

I just ordered mine and I'm getting married in less than 4 months... I should get it before Christmas! So, don't worry!

I ordered mine 9 months prior...(Feb).. and then it came in sometime in July...

Personally, I'd rather order it early and know its here...

Re: Bridal Dress- Length of Time to Order

Thanks everyone! Now I just have to speed up my wedding gown search! My first shopping experience was at Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point. I went in thinking I wanted something inexpensive and simple but classic and came out wanting a Maggie! I think today I am going to swing by Davids Bridal over in Lake Grove and maybe visit Macys Bridal while I am in the area. Stress, stress, stress!

i got married in August and ordered my dress in December ... it came in at the end of June and there were no problems.

You are not behind ... don't worry. In the very worst case, you could always pay the extra fee to have it rushed.

Re: Bridal Dress- Length of Time to Order

Well I received that length of time when I was looking at a Maggie but I just went to Davids Bridal (Lake Grove) and found 2 more dresses that I like and they are less expensive!! So i think I may go with one of them unless I see something else. Dress 1

Dress 2

Thats what I was told. I ordered my dress 9/11 for my August wedding. They said it should be in by the second week of May.

You have time but I would start looking soon

We are getting married in the same room @ East Wind! And the same month:)

I was told to order 8 months out at several stores based on one designer and I ordered mine a little over a month ago. My wedding is in 8 months. I am hoping it comes in by April!
