Bridal Dress- Length of Time to Order

I was told today that I should order my wedding gown 9 months beforehand because they are made in China and that is how long it takes to get here. Is that correct? I feel like I am way behind schedule now!

I think it really depends on the maker...I am wearing a Maggie Sottero and I know it usually takes 6-9 months to get in..I already ordered mine.
