So when i ordered my gown, my Mom put $500 on it and there's a balnace of a few more hundred dollars....
My gown came in today and i went to go try it on and play dress up, upon leaving the salon, the bridal worker that was helping us mentioned that the balance of the gown was due when the gown comes in and whether we were paying the balance.
Me and Mom looked at her like she had four heads because I remember them saying the gown balance was due upon pickup. What should I do? Should I call them and let them know that when I purchased the gown I was informed that the balance was due @ pickup?
For those who have ordered their gowns, what did your bridal salon say on paying the balance once the deposit has been put down?

Re: Bridal Gown Balance..
Yeah I paid in full AFTER all the alterations were done....Each time I went for an alteration I put something towards it but last payment when I picked it up.

Re: Bridal Gown Balance..
Here's a few thoughts: - When the gown comes in are you bringing it home or keeping it there until your fittings? - If you are bringing it home (or maybe that's the store policy) then I would think you have to pay the balance of the dress then. Simply because you could say 'Oh, I'll pay for it after the alterations,' walk out and never come back. - If the dress stays in the store until the last fitting then ask if you could just pay for it all then. It's not like it's leaving their hands.
What dress salon? Maybe other girls on here have purchased from there and could tell you what they did.

The bridal salon is : Bridal Elegance in Huntington/Dix Hills..Hopefully some other brides who have purchased their gowns from there will be able to tell me what they did...

Re: Bridal Gown Balance/Bridal Elegance
I refuse to pay the balance of my gown until it is altered and to my liking. If you are getting it altered there and they are storing it then there's no way I'd pay the balance.

Re: Bridal Gown Balance/Bridal Elegance
i got my dress a while ago from them but I either paid for my dress in full when I ordered it or I paid in full when it came in. I did not pay for alterations until they were done.

I ordered a BM dress from there. I had to pay the full balance when I went for my first fitting (which was shortly after the dress came in). What does your receipt say?

Re: Bridal Gown Balance/Bridal Elegance
My contract was that the balance was due in cash upon pick-up. I'd go back and look over your contract!
ETA: My mom tried to pay for the dress when it came in and they wouldn't accept it!

My mom has the contract so I'm waiting for her to come home and look over it...I already know i'm not paying for the gown no time soon...I have a year before my wedding and they have the gown, so why would I pay them in full when they still have my gown.

Re: Bridal Gown Balance/Bridal Elegance
My contract said that gown must be paid for within 30 days of it being in the store. But I knew that from the get go..they work with you if you need time to pay it off.
But that does not include the alterations..those do not get paid until the dress is done and to my liking

Re: Bridal Gown Balance/Bridal Elegance
The contract actually states 'THE BALANCE OF THE GOWN MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE ALTERATIONS CAN BE STARTED.'With that being said, I would think that means the dress has to be paid prior to alterations..(which is not for another year).
No where on the contract does it state that the gown had to be be paid in full when the dress comes in...
