Going to start shopping for gowns. Can anyone recommend shops they were happy with as far as price and customer service? Going to look in NYC and LI. Also, did anyone consider renting their gown, and if so, do you know any good shops for rentals?

I went to Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. They were very nice but dresses start around $2,000.

Re: Bridal Gowns
Davids Bridal is a good place to start just because they have soo many sizes and styles that you can get ideas from. That is what I did and fell in love with one of the dresses and bought it. Good Luck to you.

So far I have had a very pleasant experience with The Bridal Salon Of Manhasset. I hope it stays that way!!!

You can try:
Lillette's in Baldwin Bonaventure in Garden City Bridal Garden in Bethpage
All 3 were excellent, no pressure and very helpful. I think I will buy my gown in one of these 3 places.

Re: Bridal Gowns
I totally recommend RK Bridal. They have such a large selection. It is crowded on the weekends but you can still manage if you don't mind the crowd.
I don't recommend Bridal Couture even though I bought my dress there. They have a great and unique selection but they are so snobby. I have had two unpleasant situations with then since I bought my dress and they have a lot of my $$$.

Re: Bridal Gowns
Bridal Reflections in either Carle Place or Massapequa were both helpful when we were looking for BM gowns. I can't imagine that they would be any different for a bridal gown.
I bought my gown at Princess Bridals in Farmingdale. They were very reasonable.

I agree with deb. ANGELS Bridal is GREAT! I got my dress, my girls dresses & both moms there. They have been nothing but super nice & helpful. If only everyone in the wedding bussiness were like them.

Re: Bridal Gowns
Not to sound dumb, but do you need to make an appt to see Angel? How long should you schedule between places?
Did they have a wide selection of dresses and prices?

Re: Bridal Gowns
Just a suggestion but its probably best you set a budget before shopping.
If you have $1K budget, there is no point shopping where the gowns start at twice that just as if you have a $5K budget, you probably won't appreciate the cheaper gowns.

Re: Bridal Gowns
Also - if you have a few favorite gowns youve pulled out of magazines, you might want to start in a store that carries those designers/manufacteres.
I went to Bridal Suite in Bay Shore...because they had a sample of the dress I wanted to try on - and bought...they were great...but far for me...make sure you think of that...you have to get there to get altered...

Re: Bridal Gowns
I would try Bridal Suite of Huntington too. Very helpful.
I was recently in a wedding and the BM dresses were from Bridal Suite of Bayshore. What a nightmare, you may want to consider getting alterations eslewhere if you go with them.

Re: Bridal Gowns
I bought my gown at Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook. The prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent.

Re: Bridal Gowns
I ordered my dress from Lynbrook Bridal. If you want, you could go there, then also go to Beautiful Bride - they are only down the road from each other!! I went during the week (a huge plus), and dealt with Rose (the owner I believe) and had a great experience. I also went with a couple of my BMs for dresses, but was less impressed with that service. There were way to many customers and not enough staff (but this was on a Saturday, so during the week, who knows). My dress is due to arrive this month - I can't wait!! Good luck with your dress hunt!!!

Re: Bridal Gowns
i thought that RK was good to look, but not to buy. Their samples are gross though....it's almost impossible to see the actual color the dress will be.
I used Adrienne's in Islip. I like them alot and I know that I am quite the pain in the butt to them. They have dresses of all price ranges, unlike Bridal Reflections
