bridal heartache/epiphany

bridal heartache/epiphany

i will try to keep this as 'cliff's notes' as possible as the last few days have been pretty hard.

soooooooooo my best friend was supposed to get married this october at her dream venue and to her dream fh...all along her mother has had stage 4 brain cancer for the past 5 years...

fast forward to this past friday when she found out her mother is going into hospice care.

her RH and church had an opening for march 11 so now the wedding will go on!

this is such a heartbreaking thing to watch my best friend go through and i love her mom very much so this is truly a bittersweet time.

it makes me so happy that my friend gets to have one of her last memories with her mom be something so important to her at the hall of her dreams to the man of her dreams and that her mom will get to see her walk down the aisle in a white dress. life is not fair and she is truly blessed.

i know a lot of you girls on here have lost parents and close relatives and i can't even begin to imagine the pain that hits you every day. just seeing my friend go through this and how wearing it is- i wish i could take even the tiniest amount of her pain from her.

it also makes you really think about what is important in life. it sounds so cliche but it is so true. she will have her hall and her dress and all of her friends and family there but she will never get to accomplish anywhere near the amount of 'checks' that we get excited about every day.

you only get one mother and hopefully only one wedding and i hope this wedding will be everything she has dreamed of.

now....i have to start writing my maid of honor speech! i thought i had a few more months for this- any help is more than welcome

I just cried reading that.. I am so sorry that she is going through this and you are too.. FH and I lost his mother almost 2 years and it pains me that she is not around to see all the excitement even though I know she is watching down...

It really does put a lot into perspective... hugs for you and your friend

You are soooooooooooooo right, My prayers are with your Friend. Sometimes, I feel I complain about little things, and there is so much to be gratitude for. My dad is going through prostate cancer right now, and that is why I had to plan my wedding in six months, because I NEED him to walk me down the aisle. I just pray and thank GOD everyday, I am bless to still have my parents and be close to them.

Many hugs to your friend and you. That is such a heartbreaking story, and I can't even imagine what she's going through. It did make me happy to read that her mom will still be able to be part of her day by moving up the wedding. She will have a beautiful day and it will be such an amazing memory knowing that her mom was there for her.

Re: bridal heartache/epiphany

you are a true friend!!!!

things like this really put life into perspective....that is so heartbreaking, I can't imagine ever being in her position. I hope she is able to have an amazing day and honestly no matter what, knowing her mother is there will make it amazing in itself. She will never be able to get that back.

I have a friend in a similar situation, she finally married the man of her dreams and all she ever wanted was to get married and have a baby(she thought she might not b able to get prego) ahe is 8 months prego and found out her husband has stage 4 colon ca with mets to the liver...

its just sad that these girls cant truly enjoy the happiness of this time in their life...I know its hard to see it now but I really believe everything happens for a reason and when the dust settles, eventually we find out why or learn something or become stronger because of it

lots of hugs and prayers and love to your bff!

My heart goes out to your friend. Nobody wants to think of their wedding day as the last days for anyones parents. Im happy that she was able to move up the date. I truly hope that her mother has the strength to enjoy this day with her.

WOW!!! I am in tears. It's a sad and happy moment for your friend. But she is very lucky to have you as her MOH/friend thru all this. I'm sure having her mother there present at her wedding is more important than her having other lil details that takes months to research.

I think losing a parent is the biggest fear I have. I know eventually we all have to go thru it, but not when they are suffering from a horrible disease that is hard to cure. I tell my parents all the time they HAVE TO live forever and they just smile. They know i'm joking but deep inside I wish it was a fact.
