bridal party drama....

Original post by tammi2308

I'm having a little dilema...Anyone else feel obligated to put a girl in the bridal party just because she is dating FH's brother ?(he is also the best man). The girl is ok. For two years I occasionally asked her to hang out (go out to lunch...go shopping. etc.) because I'm friendly by nature and I thought it was a good idea. But....here's the problem....since I started dating FH (2 1/2 years ago) she has been talking about getting married....she has had her bridesmaids dresses picked out, her hall, the date (which keeps getting pushed back) and her wedding dress...I find this a little odd..even a lil' crazy ...JMO. So, when FH proposed and we were engaged....i found out she started to cry and she fought with her boyfriend (my FH's brother). We talk and get along when we see eachother, but i don't feel it's genuine..i feel she's kinda phony. So...if i don't put her in the BP i'm afraid that FH's brother might get angry and it might start drama. What do you girls think?? Sorry so long but I summed it up as best I could....

One thing and One thing only.... It's your day and if you dont think its the right thing to do by having her as a BM then dont. You dont need any drama for your wedding day.

I think u need to sit down with FH & his bro & tell him that you have people that are extremely important to you that you want in your party. People who significant to your entire life. Not just the past 2 years. As for her wedding plans. Alot of girls believe it or not are like that. yes its crazy to us who are not like that, but we need to respect the fact that she is ready to be a bride & wants to get married. Yes a little weird but let the guy marrying her worry about that. hahahaha. j/k

Best of luck & remember this belongs to You & FH & you need to have what you want.

No you're not obligated. If you're not that close to her then i'll think she'll understand.

Im gonna say this... if she is going to pout the day of your wedding for whatever reason...she will do so whether in your BP or not! YOu do what you feel is right!

I had a similar situation. Our best friend who is also our best man started dating someone a few months after we became engaged. Well now their relationship is serious and he told us the other day that he is planning on proposing. I felt like I should ask her to be a BM, even though I had already asked my other girls back in August. Bottom line is that the only reason we are friends is because she is dating one of my best friends. I asked myself if it doesn't work out with them would I still be friends with her and bottom line is I probably wouldn't. Moral of the story(sorry so long!) is that you shouldn't feel obligated. Your bridal party is supposed to be the people who are important to you and who have been a part of your life by choice. HTH.

You are not obligated at all to have her in your bridal party. It's suppose to be your closest family and friends. I can see the FBIL but not his girlfriend, only if you were really close to her, which it does not seem like. Besides, if you did put her in your BP, she'll probably bring a lot of drama into it. You need people who are happy for you and who are supportive of your wedding not someone who is phony. Don't worry about the FBIL, I'm sure he won't be upset if you didn't put her in your BP, it's not like you are BFF. This is your day and it should be about what you and your FH want.

I would not put her in the wedding. I only believe in putting family members and very close friends. If she asks why she's not in it, you can say that!

I've read everyone's advice, and it makes me feel so much better (and less stressed) that you all understand this situation. I'm also realizing how I should def not stress myself out about this at all. I just don't want any drama, especially on my wedding day. Thank you all!!!
