I heard it was 'proper' to invite the single members of the bridal party with a guest.
But if I am really really over the limit on my guest list and the single members of the party are not even dating anyone should I sacrifice my family or friends so that a couple of my attendants can bring some random person I've never met?

Re: bridal party etiquette
I think your bridal party will be busy enough w/o having to worry about their dates especially if they bring some random person just so they have a date. They will probably be happier w/o one.

I would invite them with a guest, and just hope that they don't bring one

If they are close enough to you to be in your BP I think you could discuss it with them. If they would be offended hopefully they would say something. Personally, I wouldn't want to have to worry about a random date all night!

IMO, you should ask them first. I wouldn't want to not invite them with a guest after all the $$ they're spending on being a part of my wedding.

i think you should ask them first too... they're probably close enough to you since they're in your wedding.... just tell them you don't know what to do, and kinda play up how you know the BP will be busy that day/night... and ask them if they have somebody in mind to bring... chances are they won't want to bring a random date... i know i wouldn't want to worry about one either

I would discuss it with them too. I know that anytime I was in a bridal party and wasn't dating someone, I didn't want to bring a random date. I had enough to do, I didn't want to have to be worried about someone. Maybe they will feel the same way.

Re: bridal party etiquette
I would invite w/ guest. it is customary to invite anyone over 18 w/ a guest. If they aren't dating anyone, chances are they wont' bring anyone.
