Bridal Party Regrets

Original post by Diana508

I think I should've waited longer to ask...actually, now I know I should've. I've heard many stories, but was wondering who'd change it if they could.

i only included family members BUT i wish i would have asked different ones. i asked one of my cousins to be a BM and her mother (my aunt) is super annoying and criticizing every decision im making ESPECIALLY about the BM dresses i picked

Wouldn't change a thing. I've been an easy going bride and really don't expect everyone to be at everything or involved in everything. Things come up, people have lives, and although my wedding is the most important to me, I don't expect them to feel that way at all!

for some people sure... i have 11 guys and 10 girls and we havent had one problem

I have about the same amt (11 on each side)!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad to find another Big BP Person!

I've had no issues other than one person dropping out due to finances and the rest of them declining to get hair & makeup done due to finances. But if they want to do it themselves, I have no problem with that!

I wish I had the same courage I'm kind of waiting to see if she's going to bow out b/c our friendship (or lack thereof) has changed so much.

I have the exact same problem. How are you going about this? Just not keeping in touch with her hoping that she will step down.

I'm in the same sitatuation as you girls Damnnn it...If only I wasn't so excited when I got engaged...I should have waited longer. I'm not a confrontational person so I would never ask someone to bow out but it's just gonna s*ck that this person will be in all of my pics when I know that our friendship will pretty much be done after the wedding

I definitely agree. It's crazy how friendships change even though you never thought they would.

I've got 2 cousins, FSIL and two friends and I am regretting one friend due to lack of communication. I just really hope the friendship picks back up again so I don't really regret my decision years from now.

I have a hugeeee regret! The one person I had to ask kind of a damned if you did damned if you don't thing was my 'cousin'. To make a long story
short she was engaged to her highschool sweetheart they broke it off mutually . He has ever since gotten married and had a kid and she is still single. She spends her days criticizing everything from my ring, my wedding planning , bachelorette party you name it! I have been ignoring it but the other day I just got so upset and we were stuck in the same car for 3 hrs! I just dont know what to do anymore . She even admitted that she was hysterical crying after she found out i was engaged because ' Its what she always wanted it should have been her' ! Not a lifetime movie ladies, just my life!

I have to say that I LOVE my girls and they have been awesome. I did jump to ask them, but i would have anyway. I couldn't imagine doing it with out them.

I have no regrets so far. I have 3 friends and 3 family members. I actually have a friend who I believe thinks she is going to be asked, but she def is not!! I contemplated asking her just to be nice but decided to go with my gut!

Re: Bridal Party Regrets

I made the mistake when I got engaged that I just asked this one person, who was present when I got engaged, to be my Matron of Honor. We had been close friends and she was the reason I met FH, but over the years our friendship was hot and then cold....You know I was sooo happy that I didn't even think it through.

By the following day, I told FH 'I think I made a mistake.'
I demoted her to do something else during my wedding, but she hasn't really been in communication with me, so I wouldn't be surprised if she bows out.
