Bridal Party Shoes

Bridal Party Shoes

I have very long dark red dresses for my bridal party and picked out shoes for them that with dying would cost 50 (low heel) and 60 (high heel). Mind you the dresses were only $140. Well i just get a call from my MOH stating that I should let them wear black shoes so they can buy shoes that they can wear after the wedding and she thinks that is too expensive for shoes....

My questions...

Are they too expensive?

Is it me, or would black look werid even with a full length dress...you still see the shoes....

JMO- I don't think it's too expensive, considering they're dresses are 140.....however y pick out the shoes for them? y not tell them pick out ur own, but make sure they're dyed to match the dress.....payless sells dyeables for 30 bux....if they have a problem with the price u gave them tell them to go there,....

I had the same situation with my BM. I let them go with black. They can all wear the black again, and I say pick your battles with them, especially when it is a long dress and the shoes really won't show much. IMO people won't be looking too closely at their shoes anyway. I could see if it was a cocktail-length dress, but with a long I don't think it is a big deal.

ETA: Trying to post pics. of my BM dress to show color--they will be wearing black shoes. But it isn't working

It just bothers me because when i had been in partys before I kept my mouth shut and that was it. This is the second WP member to make a comment to me about stuff and I really am going all out to try and appease each of them....

As for payless, I had them for a wedding i was in back last summer and the shoes hurt so bad by the reception that i swore not to get them. I did check them out and hte same shoe was there and IMO the selection was not good.

As for letting them all pick out there own shoe, that would be a major PIA for me becuase these girls are from all over and to get them to actually do something ahead of time and get them to me to get dyed and then back to them in time for their fitting is just tooooo much. The store i went to just let them all come in and get fitted (they keep the shoes) and dye them and then they are done by July....and i can send them to each member of the bridal party.

im with you. i picked the shoe for my BP bc it would have been a PIA for me to get them to do it separately plus my dresses are short so it would have looked bad if the shoes didnt match. i'd prob compromise and let them pick their own but they have to be dyeable. try to get them dyed together though bc i have seen some pretty bad jobs...

why do they have to bring them to you to get dyed? When I was in a wedding in GA, the bride told me to pick out shoes and have them dyed to match the swatch of the dress. That is what all my BM's are doing.

All that matters is what you want!!!!!
$50.00 is not a lot at all to ask them to pay, and after the wedding they can get them dyed to black.
They are in your WP for you and should remember that!!!!
I would just tell her that this is what you want and that you are not going to change the shoes..

My BM dresses cost about $220 + alterations. I'll probably have them wear black shoes because it will match the lace trim on their dress, but I would be fine w/ asking them to get dyeable shoes. I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. We all know it can be costly to be in a wedding, but they accepted your invitation and shouldn't give you a hard time about what you want. Can't you wear red shoes again?

I've never been in a WP, so I haven't gone through what many of you had, but IMO the WP has to spend a great deal of $ as it is with the dress, shower, bachelorette party, hair and makeup if they are doing that. If this is one minor area where you can appease them, I would let them do what they want. That said, if I was in the WP I don't think I would have the balls to say anything...

I dont tink thats a lot for shoes.. They accepted to be in the BP and they knew what their obligations would be right? You would do it for them right? Let them know that they are upsetting you. I have had some problems too but I am trying to shrug it off and ignore it. Its YOUR day dont be bothered by these FRIENDS(or family) they are supposed to make your day easier... GOOD LUCK

Thanks Ladies. I know I am right in this matter....I just wish they would keep it to themselves. i would NEVER say anything to a bride about anything that she wanted...and trust me I have been i WP where I had ot do things I didn't agree on but did it becuase as everyone knows its the Brides Day....a lot of times that is forgotten.....

Honestly though, as brides we all know what we want....and I don't want black shoes with a red dress...not that i think it looks bad but i don't want it.....they should respect that.

And I have appeased them in a lot of areas - going for a cheaper dress, a dress they all felt good in and letting them be responsible for alterations.....
