Bridal Reflections meeting - LONG

Bridal Reflections meeting - LONG

I had my meeting with the VP of Bridal Reflections tonight. My sister (also my MOH, who was at every fitting with me) came along. The VP was definitely surprised to see the pictures we provided (candids taken by my photographer of me on the dance floor with my dress falling down and my bra clearly visible to my guests) but claimed that it was the dress manufactor not the alterations.

The VP made it clear that when she spoke to the seamstress, the seamstress felt that we had been unfair to her and difficult. I was horrified to hear that. In the 26 years I have been alive, I have never, ever been accused of being difficult to deal with, and I was insulted that she even said that. Anyone who knows me - even a little - would never say that about me. I think the VP came into our discussion with the preconceived notion that we were difficult. When I mentioned that I left every fitting in tears, she did apologize. My sister pointed out - which I had forgotten - that when we made a complaint about the seamstress' attitude the night of my last fitting, we had to wait on line because 2 (yes, 2) customers ahead of us were complaining about their terrible treatment at the hands of the seamstress.

The only time the conversation ever got terribly heated was when I said that the seamstress had an attitude from the first time I met her. One of the first things she said to me was that she didn't like my dress. The VP got snappy and said that the seamstress was an immigrant and perhaps I didn't understand her and implied that I was disrespectful because the seamstress was an immigrant. I am the daughter of an immigrant, and half of my family does not speak English. My grandmother worked as a seamstress in what was basically a sweat shop, and I have nothing but respect for people who come to this country, not knowing the language, and try to make a better lives for themselves and their families. My sister and I were both horrified that she would dare imply that we would disrespect someone for such a reason, and then the VP snapped that she is the daughter of immigrants too. That was the only time the conversation got really hostile.

Ultimately, the VP offered us a gift certificate to the store and claimed that she runs a good store and while unfortunate, it wasn't her fault. My sister and I left, feeling angry and upset, but unfortunately, I feel without recourse. The BBB has the pending complaint, I have contacted every news station and paper in the area, and I am out of options. All I wanted was a refund or an apology.

FH wants me to persue it but from here, I don't know what or where to go. I do have to thank all of your for your kind FMs, thoughts, and support. You ladies are the best

Oh jeez, Daniela.

If you paid anything to them with a credit card, I would ask your company about a charge back.

What about small claims court? NY Small Claims Court

I would also mail/email them a copy of your complaints here- maybe bad publicity will help change her mind?

I am so sorry you are going through this!!! and its even more horrible that a VP of a company would handle this situation with no class or tact.

I personally would keep calling the newstations and or contact Judge Judy or other televised small claims court. I bet you will get every cent back AND give them bad publicity.
I bet they even rather settle with you once they get the court papers then to actually go through with it.

How much was the GC for? Did you accept it?

i think that if you were to even threaten to take them to court....or tell them whats been said on this website, that they would refund you just to 'shut you up' (and i dont mean that negatively to you!!) they wont want the bad publicity. Bridal reflections in Massapequa was sooooo snotty to me-i would never recomend them! Good luck!!

Yes they were very snobby to me and almost when I said I wanted to spend 2000 - 2500 or less on a gown. Then showed me dresses for 3k and up
The lady that helped me was great but the other girls were just rude!! they passed around the paper I had filled out so they could all read it.. I mean seriously is it like a credit check to try on dresses?? and WHY do they need to know WHERE my reception was?!?!?!?

Anyway I was sooooooooooo rude back. I just couldn't take it. After one girl was done looking me up and down I said VERY LOUDLY to my SIL who was next to me. WOW the workers here have some nerve to act like they can be snotty.. seriously what do they make here?? $10 an hour if they are lucky?Give me a break I wouldn't even bother working for chump change like that!!! ( I sooooooo didn't mean that but if they wanted to be snotty.... well 2 can play at that game)

I feel like you did all you could do at this point.

I too received horrible treatment at the BR in Massapequa. They looked down on me when I said I wanted to spend 1K or less. They kept saying but what do you mean by 1K??? I said 1k or less idiots!!!! Then they made me wait while they tended to other brides. Treated my mom and sister like they were less than - giving them dirty looks when they asked if there were anymore dresses with halters.

Well....the dress I ended up with was $1350 at BR and only $820 at Flowerama - whose the stupid one now!?!?!??!

I do feel like I have done everything I possibly can and don't even know what I have to gain from this point on by continuing to fight. I said my peace, and I was truly insulted by the VP's assumptions about my character and behavior. Bridal Reflections will never get another penny from me, my family, or my close friends. Ultimately, it is truly their loss.

Re: Bridal Reflections meeting - LONG

I too had a bad experience with a seamstress there. I had a bridesmaids dress that I got there 2 years ago and when she altered it she did a terrible job. When I told her it was too tight up top and too loose around the waist she yelled at me. I had to argue to get her to fix it. I would NEVER go back there. I am sorry that you had such a bad experience as well. I hope that you do end up getting in contact with the news.

Re: Bridal Reflections meeting - LONG

The more I talk to other brides...the more Im convinced that the whole Bridal Suite industry is run by a bunch of morons....seriously is there a single bridal suite on Long Island that treats their customers right from beginning to end?

Im really sorry that you had to go through this...I once had a bridesmaids dresses altered so wrong...the top was too loose, so the and the seamstress told me that I must have lost weight...I informed her that no one loses 2 bra sizes in a week. I ended up having to wear cups in my bra to get the dress to stay up.

I would continue to fight if I was you...I really wish that there was something us brides, bridemaids, and Mother of the brides could do to make these bridal salons see the errors of their way and start treating their customers better

Draft up a letter, and we can ALL send it.

sayint someting like 'we were concerned to hear about your horiable customer service at BR when a fellow bride had her alterations done here... I understand that nobody is perfect, and that being said, the fact that you would not make good on a lousy alteration job is just poor business. I would like you to know that you will never receive my business nor the business of my family and friends... I am sure that the business you will loose from our words of mouth alone will be enough for you to want to 'right the situation'.

sincerly....

and then each LIW'er can send her a copy!!!

either that or we can pickit!
