I have to say i thought it was going to be better than this. I was totally clueless. I knew the china i wanted but that was about it. Both my FI and i live together so we have a good amount of stuff. But there are stuff i am clueless about. Like what are good pots and pans? Do i need a crock pot? Things like that. I was more upset by the experience than anything.
Anyone else???

Re: Bridal Registry
Okay dont let it frustrate you! My FI and I have nothing and were completely overwhelmed! As far as you living together, think of what you have that you would like to upgrade, did you get things as hand me downs that are old? Things like that, just becuase you have it doenst mean you wouldnt like a new one and you can register for that. Also, extra sheets, a new bedding set, knick knacks (vases, candle sticks, centerpiece bowl.)there are so many items that most people who simply live together dont buy. Pots, I asked my Mother and FMIL what pots they have. We registered for farberware becuase their prices are good and my mom has had her pots for 37 years and they still work great and she has not had to replace them!!!! Get a set, we went for a 12 peice set that has the basics and we added frying pans. We registered for a crock pot. Do we need one? No you can get away with out it. But wanted to give people options. And I figure we will never know if we would like it unless we have one to try out. Ask your married friends, parents, siblings etc what they use the most and what brands they like. recently I was at my SILs and she had a veggie Steamer and after talking to her I think its something we would like but I wouldnt have thought of it if it wasnt for her! Dont get discouraged! have fun with it!!!
GOOD LUCK!!

Re: Bridal Registry
Thanks for the advice We bought a condo about a year ago so most of our stuff is brand new. As for picking out extras...Do you ever feel greedy? I have Calvin Klein sheets and i feel soooo bad having people spend so much on things like that. ESPECIALLY the china OH MY. I registered for Vera Wang Wedgewood and i had a heart attack actually embarrassed about the amount the coffe pot was. I do ask my married friends and i was all prepared but the minute i got there i got brain freeze or something. SO we are off to a start. We have to go back and get the things you mentioned...vases, pic frames, etc. Plus other stuff.

Re: Bridal Registry
My Fi is the one who keeps thinking we are being too greedy. But honestly as a female who has shopped peoples registries, I like that choices! I like when people put a range of items and prices! Again I think of it as a list of suggestions. Some people dont put enough stuff and then you are stuck trying to think of something they might like! You probably wont get everythign off your list but thats not the point and everyone knows that. But its easier for you and your guests to have the ideas to go by. The coffee pots are $$$$$$. We didnt register for ours because we knew we would never use it! But they are so pretty!!!

Re: Bridal Registry
Remember that a registry is just a guide. If you plan on getting everything you may find yourself disappointed. I think its a good idea to have things in a wide range of prices. We have our Noritake China as well as our causal Calvin Klein china. We also have little kitchen gadgets.
Since you already live together, it might be fun to get new towels for after the wedding or new stemware or something to spruce up what you already have. A new bedset is always a good idea.
Don''t stress. Even if people do not feel they can spend the money that some of your items may cost, chances are a few of them will get you gift certificates, which can add up to one gift.

Re: Bridal Registry
i''ve registered for some stuff, and people truly surprise you. we registered for waterford candle holders that we love...the were sold separtaly and expensive...we didn''t think we would get them...well...we have 2...i was shocked....
it is the one time that you get to pick out all the different things that you would never buy yourself...people are going to spend what they want regardless of what is on your registry....i found that the hardest thing is finding nice stuff that is not too expensive so that there are a variety of price ranges...
have fun...don''t let it overwhelm you...

Re: Bridal Registry
Hey Fallin
I agree about finging enough things at a variety of prices. When we went yesterday we didn''t register for everything. Which i am glad cause you can do it on-line. Hopefully things will be easier that way. But it feels weird looking at things and saying to my FI 'like that?' and he says 'sure'. And then we zap it. Then we both think, do we really want it, but we leave it cause we want to move on to something else. This was over a cheese plate! My Fi and i love getting things at different places and since we can''t register in 20 different places it makes it more difficult for us. Well sorry for making my comlpaint so long and tedious. I just found the experience frustrating.
